Fairly thick and dark beer with a quickly fading tan head. The nose is a bit muddled with the bourbon and rum fighting each other over the chocolate. Tastes sweet and boozy with a lot of chocolate and vanilla. Again the rum and bourbon together kind of makes them just taste boozy. Despite the war of flavors it finishes like bitter dark chocolate with some lingering sweetness.

Ah the final journey of the evening, drinking barrel aged variants back to back to back to back to back. But hey you take your time, sip some water, I don't think the palate gets rocked by drinking 5 slightly different treatments of the same beer. Anyways, you know the drill, pours black, thick with a 1/4" brown head. Aroma does a good job imparting the coffee, with a little bit of a residual sweetness in the nose from the vanilla and maybe coconut, who knows. Was kind of weird to learn about the rum barrel later, I didn't notice it in the smellzone.

Taste, alright, this was the best one. Good coconut quality without resorting to a sweetness trick. Coffee still present. Rum barrel wasn't problematic like it has been for me in the past. Melded good with the bourbon. Strong, but not bothersome difficult strong. Its a really good beer, but again, there are cheaper alternatives that are pretty much as good and half the price. I guess not exactly a comparison given that there aren't any double barrel alternatives like this one, but I dunno if that moves the needle for me if I ever had the opportunity to purchase a bottle. Eh fuck it I prolly would just to share it with friends/family. Once.

Poured into a Crooked Stave snifter. Pours a nice chocolate espresso color, with a thin mocha head. The nose is amazing: dark roast coffee, caramel, chocolate, and vanilla. Can’t wait to taste it. The palate is rich and decadent: first coffee, then chocolate fudge, then molasses, caramel, vanilla, and even coconut (which isn’t one of the adjuncts). The mouthfeel suits me perfectly: rich, no thinness at all, but not sludgy either. The balance on the palate is likewise just about perfect, with all of the adjuncts being highly present, with nothing dominating.

Whereas I’ve had a troubled past with Modern Times BA stouts, they have clearly gotten their act together. This beer is better than many higher-end BA stouts that I’ve had.

A complex Monster’s Park variant, but undoubtedly the best I’ve had yet. A huge surprise in a monstrous bottle share.

The pour is nearly black, viscous and heavy. No settling head, and minimal lace around the glass.

Booze and dark fruit hit the nose first. A rich chocolate settles in nicely for the follow up, sprinkled with just enough roasty dark coffee to even out the balance.

More of the same resonate in the flavors. A subtle warmth and boozy burn compliment a roasty backbone and chocolate sweetness.

A boozy beer all around, but with a mouthfeel that’s medium in viscosity and creamy. Honestly I could argue this to be the best quality of a very good beer.
