16 oz can dated 10/1

Hops: Nelson, Moteuka, Simcoe

If you want to know what Nelson hops smell and taste like, this is the beer for you. Really well done, as are most things I've had from Modern Times.

It’s kind of weird. Not weird like that kid who sat alone on the bus that liked to burn stuff, but it’s weird in the sense that it tastes like fresh and rotten fruit at the same time. And when I say ‘rotten fruit,’ I mean like the best organic rotten fruit. Again, it’s just weird! Funky and fresh like that camp counselor you had a crush on that you knew was a freak, but hey, she was too old for you anyway!

Carry on.

Uniform hazy golden pour with finger of slightly off white head.
Aroma is fruity - citrus - lemon, orange - as warmed a good hit of mango, hints of melon, peach.
Tastes of juicy tropical fruit - pineapple, mango, melon, ripe orange, lemon, with some piney notes but sweetness dominates over minimal bitterness.
Medium full mouthfeel - creamy carbonation - leaves with a touch of citrus bitterness amidst a wash of fruity sweetness. Delicious.

Four pack of cans purchased at Total Wine in Lynnwood, Washington.
Canned on 09/17/2019. Poured in to a pint glass.

Look- Hazy golden orange juice color. Modest off-white head with decent retention, spotty lacing. light carbonation streams as it sits.

Smell- Light citrus, pineapple and stone fruit. A little dank and crackery malt.

Taste- Follows the nose with a bit of white pepper in there.

Feel- Light bodied compared to it's look, light carbonation on the tongue, well balanced though.

O- Not one of MT's better offerings IMO. Kind of mundane.

A nice dank nose IPA with good tropical fruit taste notes.
Pretty smooth finish. Downed on March 6/2020 but still holding up well.

Canned 10/20/20. Bought 12/23 for $3 per 16 oz. can. Consumed 1/1/2021. If you like the Nelson hops you will probably like this one. 2 finger head that is relatively persistent and lots of lacing. Smell and taste follow the can description of Nelson hops followed by a couple secondary hops. Nice mouthfeel with low carbonation. This won't be my primary go-to hazy but could play a role when I want something with a "different" flavor profile. I like other hazy IPAs in the same price range better, but mostly as a result of the hop selection.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned October 3rd 2019.

Quite a nice looking NEIPA. Has a mix of hazy and turbid, but does not go full on swamp water looking body. Pale lemon yellow, but with some actual clear edges on the side of the glass, showing some very copious amounts of fine carbonation. A standard classic three finger white head hits, with some big swiss cheese like bubbles, and good staying power and retention. Some cascading pill lacing while settling and you have a great looking IPA here.

That hop aroma hits wonderfully. Classic fruity tones of tropical notes and citrus. Zest orange, with hints of earthy pineapple mixed in. Sweet grass and herbs get into the mix too. Hop dominant with a neutral malt and yeast presence, that is inviting and delicious smelling.

Palate gets in the groove. Locking hops of slight melon and much more into the tropical flavors of guava to mango like than the hinted citrus. Malt body is a bit basic, but solid. Aftertaste hits with an excellent balance of fruit punch light sweetness and grass bitter herbs, bordering on a menthol fantastic aftertaste. Misses a little in the malt density and chewy character to put it over the top.

A well suited and another solid beer from these guys who rarely ever disappoints me.

16 oz can poured into a stemless wine glass.

Murky orange color with a white frothy head-leaves nice lacing.

Smells of Stone fruit, grape musk, citrus and light herbs. A touch dank.

Taste mimics the nose. Nice pop of peach, nectarine with light herbs. Finished with a slightly bitter citrus note.

Mouthfeel is soft and smooth.

I enjoyed this one a lot. A really nice mix of flavors. Quite complex and satisfying. I will repeat again soon.

8/28/20 dated can poured 9/26

pours a hazy mellow yellow gold body with a white frothy head that has moderate retention and leaves thick sudsy lacing rings as it settles to a patchy cap with thin defined halo

smells of lemon zest and tang and solid dose of bright and lush tropical fruits

correction - not lemon, LIME. yep, the taste leans in hard with the lime spritz and zest before parachuting into a thick citrus hop with a slight angle towards earthy grapefruit bitterness that gets absolutely rocked by overripe pineapple and other sparkling bright tropical fruits.

moderately carbonated and medium bodied; lush and smooth with occasional prickles that leads to a soft earthy bittersweet dry finish that coats the mouth.

sparkling lime-led tropical citrus hopped NEIPA that remains mostly smooth and lush but offers a slight dryness in the finish and an earthy yet still lush grapefruit bittersweet as solid counterpoints.

Picked up a 16 oz single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop cooler on 9-7-18 for $2.99. Canned on 8-29-18; cold stored since purchase and consumed on 12-11-18.

Beer poured a cloudy golden orange with a nice white head with the initial pour.

Nose has some fresh orange and tropical scents.

Taste is orange and mango forward with a touch of mild bittering citrus rind in the finish.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and refreshing.

This beer has held up pretty well despite the age. Overall a solid NEIPA style beer that i am glad to have tried!

Served with the heat domed over the glass rim. Cloudy, lighter amber color. Good steaks stemming from initial blankets.

Nice grapefruit rind aroma with a weaker pale ale malt and light warming alcohol in the background.

The malt has a stronger presence initially than the smell suggests. The bitterness takes over with earthy overtones. The finish has a bite that fades moderately. The body and carbonation are as expected. Overall, a hop forward pale ale which doesn't hit like a NE IPA.
