Very Good
Notes: This IPA is loaded with Simcoe & Amarillo hops as well as a bit of rye, which should make for a boatload of citrusy, fruity awesomeness from aroma to satisfying finish.

Very nice, flavorful, slightly juicy IPA from a solid San Diego brewery. Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with quite a bit of fluffy white head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells of grapefruit, orange, lemon, tangerine and passion fruit zest hops along with some weaker malt, vanilla, bread and floral hop aromas. Taste follows the nose, and there's a fair amount of hoppy bitterness that's quite well-balanced by the sweeter malt backbone. Smooth, slightly sticky, mild mouthfeel and very good carbonation. An enjoyable beer and the higher ABV is well-hidden.

another good hoppy beer from modern times, who seems to be taking over the world, or at least this part of it. they have a ton of ipa types out there now, and not only are all of them pretty good, but they are also mostly pretty distinct from one another, many of the new school guys we cannot say the same thing about at all. the rye in the mash here is a nice touch, i think it grabs onto the simcoe and does something pretty cool pulling out pine and woodsy elements i dont always get from it, and still staying dry and far enough back that the amarillo isnt overwhelmed, a smart and intentional recipe here, and nicely executed. paler honey colored and quite thick, big melon and spruce notes to the nose, some peppery character from the rye coming through as well, and not as dry as it could be it doesnt seem, but i dont mind here, more depth and more balance this way. the flavor is about the same, better than expected back and forth between these hops, and they seem pretty equal, which is cool. i like the fruitiness that comes up, grapefruit, melon, and tangerine, and the earthy malt underneath. flavorful beer, maybe a little fuller than i can drink a ton of, but unique enough and relatively complex as they go with the more interesting malt bill. these guys have been killing it with the hoppy stuff, glad to be seeing so much of it come through here!

Hazy yellow amber brew with an abundance of foam in the Crooked Line tulip. Lush mouthfeel with all the suds and slippery grain additives. Orange pineapple flavor, tangy and mildly acidic. Long nose of citrus.

Malty and sudsy with a distinct sweetness. The bitterness level is much below average. This is one of the better hazy IPAs I’ve tasted. It’s fruity and lively with From the 16 oz can purchased at the liquor supermarket.

Pours a hazy bright straw yellow, pineapple juice, with a robust just off white head.
Smell is bright and tropical. Pineapple and passion fruit. Nice sharp bite to balance the fruity sweetness.
Taste is fruity with peach and pineapple leading the way. Nectarine and valencia orange are present. A melony, maybe cantaloupe, taste lingers on at the end. Very nice if you like these modern fruity hop flavors.
Mouthfeel is excellent, full and soft with just enough bitter bite to keep it from cloying. Very much a full beer but it doesn't get syrupy or build up on the tongue.
Overall this is one of the better IPAs i've had from MT so if you know and like their style I'm guessing you'll love this. Very nice modern american IPA with great fruity hop flavors.

Pours a hazy honey gold with a sudsy head. Tropical fruit and melon, silky and slightly oily texture. Piney finish, mildly bitter. So pleasant and refreshing. Wish I'd bought more than one can.

Canned 5/1/2019. Pours a hazy yellow orange, good retention and lacing. Citrus forward, mostly orange/grapefruit, pineapple, pine. Malt backbone is quite sweet and a bit doughy, pastry like. Very low bitterness per style, but still a bit zesty and resinous, which is good.

Overall, an enjoyable juicy hazy. A bit sweet for my liking, would like it a bit more dry on the finish, and the hop profile leaves something to be desired. I think this would make an excellent gateway to IPA's for less seasoned palates. Might revisit for that exact purpose.

Opaque orange but some serious floaties/sediment. Honestly pretty gross looking. My first can so I’m not sure it they’re all like this.

Nose is grapefruit and tangerine.

Taste is very tropical, with dankness. Sweet fruit juice basically.

Mouthfeel has some creaminess to it, more carbonation than I’m used to for the style.

Canned on 4/29, consumed on 5/29 - poured from a tall-boy into my Bruery tulip.

Turbid jasmine body with a half finger of champagne-kissed suds resolving to a sticky collar and a smattering in the center; Sandy lacing; average retention.

Resinous, fruity aromatics with a spicy/herbal twist. Juice and crackers show up as well alongside the gentle dank qualities and tropical (passion fruit/pineapple) and citrus (pomelo/tangerine) notes.

Sweet herbaceous palate entry suffused with fruit, giving way to gentle malt and a nice even bitterness. Unique, juicy, medium-dry, almost savory finish with hints of cashew fruit and spice from the rye.

Medium-light bodied, creamy, and zesty with well integrated alcohol.

Another excellent IPA from this brewery - the rye is a lovely addition to the grist and the hop profile (Simcoe/Amarillo) yields surprising complexity.

Pint can:

Pours lemon-drop yellow with a foamy white head. Foamy trailing lace sticks.

The smell is of floral/herbal/piney notes with citric and tropical fruitiness.

The taste is of juicy tropical notes. More fruity than the nose. Pine with a minty rye touch come through in the finish.

It has a juicy body that is almost like a NE style, but with bitter bite of a classic West Coast American IPA.

With so many IPA's out there, this one stands out in a unique way. A very enjoyable brew!

Subdued sweet trop-hoppy nose on this one. The aromatics didn't jump out at me, but the taste made up for it! The taste followed with a slight nutty vibe on tap...but it had light yeasty, dank notes out of the can! Good! Those notes went along really well with the hoppy finish. Nice depth and feel on the palate for a single and at 7% ABV, you can throw a few back and not damage your liver!

Price: $12.99 for a 4-pack

First time seeing this in stores so had to pick it up. Was going to wait for Trader Joe’s, but saw it at La Mesa Wine & Spirits first. Online description called for, “This IPA is loaded with Simcoe & Amarillo hops as well as a bit of rye, which should make for a boatload of citrusy, fruity awesomeness from aroma to satisfying finish. Plus, the can is extremely fun to stare at.” Good thing I don’t review my beers based on what the can looks like (or what the name is for that matter). But Simcoe and Amarillo, count me in.

Poured a gold-to-amber hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect layered lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)

Smelled Amarillo, tangerine, orange, bitter mango rind, peach, pineapple, red grapefruit, papaya and pine. A little bit better out of the can with Amarillo, Simcoe, mango, pineapple and red grapefruit shining through. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted about the same as the nose. Got Amarillo, bitter tangerine peel, orange, pineapple, red grapefruit, mango, papaya, peach skin, pine, hints of Simcoe, black pepper and light herbal. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Bitter, citrusy finish. (Feel - 3.50)

Very good overall, but a little bit of a letdown for a Modern Times beer. Probably overrated this just a tad. (Overall - 3.75)
