Had this June 1, 2019 at the Reno Biggest Little Invitational. Reminded me of like a lighter version of Sundae Sunday from Bruery.

Pours black. Drops a 1/3" tan head. Looks good. Aroma was a fat dose of vanilla and blackberry on top of a mild curren of bourbon. Roasted malt is minimized in the nose with everything else going on.

Taste is sweet, but not too sweet. Again, vanilla and blackberry are right at the front, but the massivity of the malt bill and the solid note of bourbon are still competing strongly in the taste profile. Easier to drink than the big time abv would make you think at first glance. They kept carbonation low, but not too low, allowing for an even smoother vanilla influx. All in all, this did pretty good. Just a hint of cinnamon, rightly so. They even managed to get a little bit of a pie crust like vibe for the cinnamon to pair with. Shit man, this is a fun beer to party with, I could imagine how much better it would fit in spring or fall moreso than June. Would recommend.

Like always, I can’t just get the beers I ordered at Modern Times and get out of there. This time I had a flight and grabbed this on the way out with the ones I bought. The Monsters’ Park series is just incredible, so I expect this one to be in the mix. The email description read, “We dosed this edition of our beloved bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with blackberries, vanilla, and cinnamon, yielding a jaw-droppingly magnificent liquid experience that explodes with decadent, dessert-laden radness. Prepare your grill-piece for an experience of consummate luxury.”

Poured a pitch black color with two fingers of khaki tan frothy head. Could not see any bubbles underneath. Excellent uneven lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled vanilla, cinnamon, smooth bourbon, nutmeg, dark fruit (not necessarily blackberry), graham cracker, pie crust and crayon. Very sugary and sweet smell. (Smell - 4.50)

Taste followed the nose, but not quite as good. So damn sweet. In order got vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, smooth bourbon, dark fruit (couldn’t really pick out blackberry), graham cracker, pie crust, bitter crayon and oaky wood. Felt nowhere near 12.4 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.25)

Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, warming finish. (Feel - 4.50)

So damn sweet of a barrel-aged stout, but so damn good. World-class. (Overall - 4.50)

12oz can, stemless glass. Dark black body, one finger offwhite head, good retention, not much lacing. Smell is blackberry and cinnamon, milk chocolate and a bit of cocoa. Big spicy cinnamon with a touch of raw vanilla to round it out. It's good. Flavour is a smooth cinnamon and vanilla flavour, with a light background of minimally tart blackberry fruit. Milk chocolate, a bit of cocoa. But mostly the cinnamon is all there, from the beginning giving off a slightly prickly spiciness which is ameliorated by the mildly tart blackberry and milk chocolate base, to the end when it is supplanted by the vanilla smoothness. The chocolate and malt, combined with the cinnamon, gives off a bit of that cobbler flavour, and the vanilla sells it. Cool combination of flavours, it works as the name advertises. Medium fuller bodied, good carbonation, not boozy but certainly very filling.
