We lavished this boss-level iteration of our beloved coffee oatmeal stout with a generous helping of vanilla, and upped the ante even further by loading it with even more of our world-class house-roasted coffee. The progeny of this blessed union is a jaw-droppingly smooth adult beverage that absolutely sings with roasty radness and vanilla magic, and it’s all at your lucky little fingertips. Prepare to be enchanted.

All in all, for a 5.8 ABV stout, this is quite good.
Poured nearly black, translucent cola brown at the edges and sported a massive light brown head.
The aroma was faint, for me that is normal, but I did get whiffs of vanilla and coffee, maybe cocoa. Pleasant enough.
The taste, I’ve been spoiled with high octane BA stouts so I dialed back my expectations. Definitely getting vanilla, almost sweet, but not quite. The coffee and cocoa aspects of the malts certainly play main stage.
The feel, for what it is, is decent, but for an oatmeal stout I do expect a bit more creaminess.
OA, it’s good, try it if you have the chance. I’m happy I got to try it.

From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Dec. 26, 2020
Consumed: Dec. 27, 2020
Misc.: Canned on Oct. 23, 2020

Grabbed this and 10 other singles when I planned to go to Windmill Farms for two other 6-packs (I still got those). This would be my fourth Black House variant to go along with the original one. Gave the basic Black House a 4.36 back on April 26, 2014, Black House - Coconut and Cocoa Nibs a 4.31 on April 15, 2015, Mega Black House a 4.25 on July 18, 2015 and Black House - Nitro a 4.16 on Jan. 12, 2017. Poured a pitch black color with 4-to-5 fingers of rocky khaki-tan head. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Very good spotty lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled black coffee, vanilla, roasted barley, cacao, caramel, toffee, milk chocolate and chocolate milk. Just as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted vanilla, black coffee, roasted barley, cacao, milk chocolate, caramel, toffee, char wood, chocolate milk and hints of toasted coconut (wishful?). (Taste - 4.25)

Full body. Creamy-to-sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, roasty, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.50)

Just an excellent beer. (Overall - 4.25)

19.2oz can. Can bottom is stamped 'SAY HER NAME 10/23/20 1202055'.
Deep cola brown colored body, with a garnet back lit tint. Voluminous light tan head. Leaves rings of lacing.
Aroma of chocolate malt, coffee with milk, and vanilla.
Taste expresses a stronger coffee than the smell, but there is also milk chocolate and vanilla. Sort of like a chocolate shake with malt and coffee. Mostly sweet and creamy but some dark coffee bitterness.
Just a medium mouth feel, more thin than thick. Creamy texture. Very good carbonation.
Very drinkable milk stout with pleasant chocolate, vanilla and coffee additions.

Pretty good coffee stout that’s straight forward but not too flashy.

Moderate coffee and vanilla notes with some stout roast. A drinkable sub-six percent stout.

Solid coffee stout.. vanilla helps smooth it out some more and makes it even creamier. Light mildly roasty coffee background, mild chocolate and a dab of roasted barley. Medium lighter bodied, good carb, creamy and soft. The oats play nicely here

Canned 10/27/20; drank 2/6/21 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque dark brown appearance.

A rough pour yielded a huge tan head; a thick curtain of frothy tree-rung lace.

Medium roast coffee bean, cream, acorn & mild caramel notes in the nose.

Creamy medium-thin mouthfeel.

Cream, faint medium roast coffee bean & mild acorn flavors.

This looked substantial & smelled good, but the thin mouthfeel & faint flavor left a lot to be desired. Not one I'll return to.

Can poured into a Modern Times Beer glass

A: Pours dark brown with a frothy tawny brown head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.

S: Roasty, chocolate, smooth coffee, sweet vanilla, slight earthy herbal notes, and a touch of char and burnt sugar.

T: Roasty, coffee, dark and milk chocolate, solid hit of vanilla, earthy, a touch of char, slight herbal notes, and a bit of burnt sugar.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, somewhat creamy.

O: It's been a little while since I've had the original so I can't really do a variant comparison like I want. That said, I seem to remember the OG being more balanced. With this version, after a while, the vanilla's sweetness can build and interact with roasted malt's bitterness in a kinda funny way. Not full cloying vs astringent, but there's a little something there. Overall it's a very enjoyable beverage and a fun variant to try. Maybe toning down the vanilla just a touch would do the trick.

L- black, fine head that recedes to liquid quickly. No legs or residual sugar in glass. No coffeemate or PBR coffee vibes.
S- cocoa, vanilla with a hint of coffee.
T- predominantly coffee, mild astringency due to coffee. Sessionable and light.
F- sessionable, smooth.
O- Solid beer with a great latte flavor. Perhaps overlooked due to a market flooded with bigger abv stouts with bolder flavors. A good session stout.
