Very Good
TychoTycho
Notes: Both complex and incredibly refreshing, June’s hazy IPA will sport an abundance of Nelson, Simcoe, and Idaho 7 hops. Prepare your grill-piece for a symphony of white grape, blueberry, and lychee flavors that promises to be positively enchanting, and a seriously ideal companion for pool parties and barbecues.

Poured from a can about three weeks after the date stamp.
For some reason, I was craving a hazy beer tonight. Visually, this hits the spot, with a slightly hazy, opaque but not turbid, creamsicle orange capped with a generous head that lingers longer than it has any right to.

The aroma is lightly tropical, with some guava and peach notes. Flavor comes off as smoothly creamy, low bitterness, with more juicy notes and a touch of piney resin on the finish. Nicely done.

Can poured into a Modern Times Beer glass

A: Pours hazy golden orange with a frothy eggshell white head that settles to a firm layer and leaves some thick lacing.

S: Earthy herbal notes, citrus zest, pretty much the whole produce section worth of fruity notes, tropical and stone fruit, melon, citrus, and grapes, a little pine, bready malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Herbal piney notes hit first, but quickly give way to the fruity side, white grape, gooseberry, apricot, peach, papaya, passion fruit, mango, and melon, a little citrus, orange and lemon, floral notes, underlying earthy notes, bready malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: Just a touch on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate.

O: I had such high hopes for this one, but I feel like the Idaho 7 addition just muddies the waters. Great looking can, but I'm not crazy about the beer inside.

despite the description here, i really didnt find this beer to be particularly summery. like, maybe the flavors from the hops are, and there is no denying the nelson in here and all the fruity goodness that it brings, but the beer itself is weighty, super hazy and starchy and thick from the sediment in it, also kind of yeasty to me without all that much of a fermentation profile in the taste, which is an odd feature, but the beer overall tastes very good, it just seems a weird design for a warm weather offering. this is murky right away from the psychedelic green can, a tall white head on a light rusty orange body, rich with sediment. it smells and tastes delicious, nelson right away, canned pineapple, kiwi fruit, green grape, lemongrass, summery here sure. there is also some pine resin and weed dankness to this, close to over saturated but without the green bite when it drinks, but definitely approaching maxed out on the hopping overall. there is some bitterness at the end, and more of it as this warms, but it never quite gets harsh. i get some green apple candy, faint coconut, and sweet oily cooked lemon through the finish as well. a great hop profile, the best of all these varietals at once and in nice proportion with one another, but for me a beer less well refined overall than i am used to from these guys, seems almost super hazy for the sake of being super hazy, like the malt and yeast sides of this are quite unremarkable. that said, im never going to complain about an amazing hop profile like this. glad to be seeing more and more modern times beer in idaho lately, i am an even bigger fan now after visiting their amazing portland location this summer!

Typical hazy orange color with a 3 finger head-nice lacing.

Smells of...oh no, onion. Here comes the Mosaic. Tired of so many using this hop. Wish I would have know as I would have passed on this one. Look and mouthfeel are the high points. It’s a decent beer but I will struggle through the 4 pack and move on.

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England Style
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. brandy snifter glass
Price: $11.99 for a 4-pack
From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa, Calif.
Purchased: June 10, 2020
Consumed: June 10, 2020
Misc.: Canned on June 4, 2020

Had my wife pick this up at Trader Joe’s on a recent trip. Was going to take it up with me to Santa Barbara, but decided to just have a can now instead. Their website called this (back in December 2019) as “Both complex and incredibly refreshing, June’s hazy IPA will sport an abundance of Nelson, Simcoe, and Idaho 7 hops. Prepare your grill-piece for a symphony of white grape, blueberry, and lychee flavors that promises to be positively enchanting, and a seriously ideal companion for pool parties and barbecues.” Liking the hop combo, even though Idaho 7 is hit and (mostly) miss for me.

Poured a murky amber color with 3-to-4 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 5.00)

Smelled a mix of all mentioned hops, in order Simcoe, Nelson and Idaho 7. Specifically pine, papaya, tangerine, orange, mango, mixed berry, apricot, stone fruit, white grape and red grapefruit. Much of the same from the can. (Smell - 4.00)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but still solid. In order got Nelson, white grape, viney berry, papaya, apricot, stone fruit, bitter pine, black pepper, Simcoe, Idaho 7, mango, red grapefruit and melon. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, citrusy finish. (Feel - 3.75)

A pretty good beer overall. Glad I picked up a 4-pack. (Overall - 4.00)

I couldn't disagree more with the other reviews. This is a great bitter West Coast IPA. I was sitting in the yard in the bright sun and heat. Tycho poured into a snifter with a glowing orange haze and a foamy white head. The aroma was floral and strong. The taste was bitter, yet clean. The hops are prominent and fresh. The mouthfeel was good. If you are looking for a NE fruity IPA, you came to the wrong place. The can was stamped 3 weeks ago.

16oz canned 7/24/20, opened 9/7/20.
2 finger off-white head. Fine bead, dense with excellent retention (like so many Modern Times beers).
Dull orange-gold, fully opaque from a well integrated pour. Full and thick lacing.
Orange, grapefruit, citrus peel oils. Zesty. White grape juice makes an appearance.
Grapefruit juice and black or white pepper. Ripe citrus fruit. Zesty grapes. Some tropical flavors show as well.
Full body, soft mouthfeel with low to medium bitterness. Lengthy hop drenched and off-dry finish.
Polished off this 4pk with a quickness. Pleasure to drink.
Very Good to Outstanding.

Quite hazy in appearance, with long-lasting foam in the Tripel Karmeliet tulip. Highly acidic, and gets worse as you sip. Quite aromatic with green melon, grapes, and a touch of peach. Flavor starts off with some fruit and a little malty sweetness but just gets harsh.

This is a seriously murky— and sharp— concoction. Such interesting hop flavors but so need-to-clear-the-back-of-my-throat. From the 16 oz can with date of 06/04/20, which makes it exactly two weeks in the can.
