This spectacle of West Coast IPA wizardry was lavished with massive quantities of Nelson, Strata, Mosaic, and Centennial hops. Together, this quartet of lupulin-laden stunners yields a soul-stirring symphony of citrus, stone fruit, and tropical character with just enough pleasantly snappy bitterness to really stick the landing. We’re pretty psyched about it; we think you might be, too.

Aroma and visuals are kind of mediocre. Tastes insane. Perfect balance of bitterness and unsweet tropical fruit with plenty of malt character. My local distro was giving it away and that's unfair to how perfect the flavors are. Don't underestimate this one.

i love that modern times is back, at least a little bit, in boise, ive long loved them, and despite the changes on their end and in the market here, i am pumped to see some draft around. this is a great beer, built smartly on a super simple grain base which really lets the hops pop, and they are super well selected, nelson dominant but also strata, centennial, and the obligatory mosaic, what a wonderful combination, and this drinks light and fresh to me from the tap, dangerously refreshing even, loved every drop and only time prevented me from having several pints! this is way underrated to me on here, the freshness is elite, and its the best part of all these hops in nose and taste, to me pungent enough to almost have to be using cryo hops or some other product rather than just pellets, its bold and forward but never green or burning, i love that. its a modern west coast, clearish but not filtered to crystal clear, and its bitter a little bit, but thats far from the most significant aspect of the hop profile. i taste bubblegum, ripe honeydew melon, golden currant, pear and white grape, floral honey, and a juicy orange thing too, especially as it warms. the light body is perfect for this, its off dry due to hop oiliness at the end which is cool, and the carbonation is there. really tasty beer, refined to the right degree and just beautifully hopped. modern times is back baby! this is one of the better ipa types ive had in awhile!

8-week-old can poured into a tulip glass.

Un-noteworthy look with a pale, clear, apple juice body and a mild, fizzy head of tight, white bubbles. Decent streaks of lacing down the glass. Honestly looks more like a mild wheat beer, gose, or sour than an IPA.

But the middling look quickly gives way to an eye-opening nose: extremely bright and grassy, with wonderful tropical fruits, citrus, grape musk, and berries. Nice level of dankness with a little pine in the background. But the fruit medley on the nose, while not massive, is really nuanced and appealing. Leans much more towards an NE IPA than West Coast on the nose, but regardless of how you categorize it, the aroma profile is outstanding.

Taste follows, with a variety of different, complementary notes, but not quite as layered and perfectly blended as the nose. Citrus peal, grape skin, passionfruit, berries, pineapple, tangerine, and grapefruit. Perfect level of dank weediness, but here the bitter pine resin plays a larger role. Wonderful pith late that makes the grapefruit and white wine notes pop. Bit of a funky finish. Really liking this beer -- very rare to find something in the IPA category (WC or NE) that stands out (positively) at this point, but this beer really caught my attention.

Little more full and coating than the look would suggest, but still a little thin and not sticky at all. The 7% is invisible, with only the strong aroma and taste profiles hinting that this is more than a 5-6% ABV beer. Incredibly drinkable and refreshing, but also a sensory delight that you want to sip slowly and savor. Well done!

Been to a few tap takeovers and bottle shares with this brewery, didn't specify in my notes what kind of pour (tap/bottle/keg) this was.

Pours a mostly yellow golden color with good clarity and 1/3" white head. Aroma has a nice Nelson diesel fume to it, like running a tractor in a strawberry weed strain growth collective (Strata hop). Mosaic says let's throw some tropical guava and passion fruit notes on it.

The taste doesn't go all super fruity though, while those elements remain, there is a nice firm Centennial presence that brings the right amount of bitterness for the mouth feel of a west coast ipa, but also a nice pine and rind aspect that fully diversifies your hop portfolio bonds yo. The body of coast is super minimal and out of the way essentially, appropriately so in a west coast ipa. Same with the yeast, neutral. From a hop perspective, there isn't much that isn't in here outside of some of the bell pepper Sabro or onion/garlic Summit characteristics, but even with that, there is some overlap in Nelson's dankness and Summit's other dankness.

Pours a medium gold with nice head and decent lacing. Smells strongly of fruit and bitter hops. A good, piney, bitter tongue lashing follows on the taste with a variety of fruit flavors; grapefruit for sure, maybe pineapple, and some others. Pretty balanced despite the bitterness and it lives up to the West Coast monikor. Another good IPA from MT, and I wish them success as they restructure. A worthy effort and just a notch below the best ones in San Diego County, cheers!
