Notes: It’s so great that you like coffee. I just love that about you. Speaking of which, you’re holding an oatmeal coffee stout positively redolent with coffee aroma and flavor. It kind of tastes like a chocolate-covered espresso bean, only drier and more like beer. Nifty fact: we’re one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be extremely persnickety about which beans we buy and how we roast them. Taste the persnicketiness!

*16 oz. Can courtesy of SomethingClever, thank you!*

Going to do this straight up, no gimmicks. This brew pours black with dark brown hues around my glass. There was a small khaki head that resided to the body quite quickly. The nose on this is brilliant! Huge coffee and chocolate with that barley Dankness. The coffee is just great even with a hint of sourness. The flavor is like the nose describes yet isn't as sweet. First hits with mineral water and bitter coffee and chocolate. Roasted malts are present yet act as a balancing act with the coffee with just a slight sourness. The finish is bitter-sweet and dry. The aftertaste is where all the flavors seem to converge and leaves a pleasant chocolate/coffee/toasted breads and oat meal lingering to ache another sip. The mouthfeel on this is very thin yet tries to be creamy and smooth yet is distracted by the forced carbonation.

Overall: This isn't a bad beer, just not too much for me to love it. The way this brew feels should be heavy and coat the palate with its goodness. There could be some more residual sweetness from the malts as well. Just my two cents worth. Yet for being a Stout this doesn't scream greatness. This brew is worth a shot.

16oz can from Noble Grains NYC on the UES
Pours a dark brown with minimal light tan head, smells like rich cocoa and roasted coffee beans, creamy mocha latte, tastes like chocolate milk that finishes with a mild coffee roastiness that lingers, feel is light and smooth. A diner coffee stout, warming, comforting, and sweet.

Black as midnight on a moonless night. Beautiful 1-inch head that leaves a satisfying lace. Mouthfeel is clean and creamy. Taste is a little thinner than I expected, but the coffee is present and it has a very dry finish. Akin to drinking some damn good black cold-brew.

The beer pours jet black, with a half-finger-width head. The aroma is pleasant with robust coffee and a touch of roasted barely. The taste has loads of coffee, but it’s not overbearing. There is some roasted barely on the back end. Interestingly, this is first time I’ve had a beer in which the mouth feel was a major-contributor to the overall rating. It had a nice, medium milky mouth feel that complemented the flavors perfectly. The beer is not incredibly complex, but delicious all the same. It’s just a fantastic beer.

Visual- Dark brown/black. Extremely opaque. Poured about one finger lace, not very long lasting

Aroma- Very strong smell of coffee, some roasted malt, nutty smell

Taste- Very dominant burnt coffee taste with a little bit roasted caramel and malty background

Mouthfeel- Good carbonation, pretty light overall, extremely smooth and creamy

Overall- I enjoyed this stout very much. It tasted exactly like it smelled which was a little too overwhelmingly coffee, but not unpleasantly so. I would prefer a little chocolate notes to it as well, but overall very enjoyable.

Poured from tall boy into Spiegelau Stout glass. Canned on December 29th 2016.

L: Deep dark brown with ruby colors when light shines through. Two finger fluffy tan head with excellent retention. Good lacing.

S: Strong aromas of coffee, chocolate, cocoa.

T: Very prominent coffee flavors, hints of chocolate. Tiny bits of cream and even some hazelnut. Not bad.

F: Light-Medium body and crisp.

O: Session style stout, not too shabby but not on par with my favorite, Founders Breakfast Stout.

Dark brown body, clear, topped by a dense, tan coloured head that has good retention.
Aroma of marshmallow, lactose, lightly of coffee.
Surprisingly sweet upfront, of caramel malt, maple syrup, lactose, before a mild kick of bitter, dry hops lend some balance leading into the finish. Reminiscent of coke. Not a big sense of coffee, nor of chocolate, they're both more of a whisper, and comes out a bit more in the lingering finish. Medium body and medium-light carbonation. Silky mouthfeel.

Sugary sweetness is what this one is all about. It manages to have some balance so that it isn't totally over-bearing, but it does lack depth and doesn't live up to it's name.

I had this beer on nitro in an imperial pint glass at TeKu Tavern in Seattle.

Appearance: dark brown, nearly black, with plenty of haze and a thick finger of dense, creamy tan foam. Great.

Smell: a little roast, a little sweetness, and a lot of smoothness.

Taste: roasty with coffee, caramel and toffee notes. Very nice indeed.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent enough carbonation and creaminess. As is typical, the nitro makes this beer look good but detracts from the mouthfeel.

Overall: this is one easy drinking beer. Dark and heady but goes down with a great taste and awesome balance. Good stuff!
