Canned on 11/2/16. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours almost black with a big fluffy light khaki head that falls leaving great retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are full of cocoa malts. Hints of milk chocolate along with some subtle coffee notes. The aromas are pretty mild, but still solid. The flavors are clean. More milk chocolate leading the way. Roasted malts are there with some hints of smoke. Hints of fresh milk. Subtle hints of vanilla in the mix. It's more sweet than bitter, but it's nothing close to cloying or anything like that. Solid malt backbone. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is nice. It's on the fuller side of light with moderate carbonation. It's very fluffy, creamy and smooth. Easy to drink.

This is a solid porter. It's nothing too crazy or bold, but it's enjoyable stuff.

Nice dark brown beer with a light tan head. Doesn't leave much behind in lacing but the head stayed around the edge of the glass throughout. The aroma is slightly sweet, roasted malts with a touch of coffee and chocolate. The taste is roasted malts and a weird cola like taste that finishes with a little coffee and chocolate. Decent carbonation and a slightly thin mouthfeel. It is a pretty solid porter.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 12 oz. can into an Upland pint glass.

A: Dark brown and translucent, with a low amount of visible carbonation and a thin tan head.

S: Roasted malts, coffee, and toffee sweetness. A light hop presence in the background.

T: Malt sweetness, lightly roasted coffee, and bittersweet chocolate. Again, some resinous hop bitterness in the back, but it lingers for a few beats after the swallow.

M: A fairly light body for a so-called "Robust" porter, but not watery. Low alcohol presence, and average carbonation sensation.

O: A decent offering from Rhinegeist, but nothing exciting.

A solid, straightforward porter. Nothing offensive about it, but certainly nothing to make it stand out. I drank it, enjoyed it, but I don't feel compelled to purchase again.

12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours an opaque black with a 1.5 finger mocha head. Nose is dark cola, with a trace of cherry and dark-fruit funk - a pleasantly interesting nose. The palate opens with a similar sweet, cola-like flavor giving way to cherry simple syrup with a touch of toasted malt on the backend. The highly carbonated mouthfeel and medium-light body emphasize the soda-esque nature of this brew. An interesting take on the style: not necessarily what I look for in my ideal porter, but a solid, drinkable take.

12oz can poured into a tulip
A: Dark brown, almost pitch black with a one-finger tan head
S: Cocoa, dark malts, a hint sweet- caramel/chocolate covered cherries
T: Matches the nose. Straightforward and the cherry note is unique
M: Medium-bodied, fairly smooth
O: A decent porter. Nothing earth shattering but true to the style and while the cherry note may not be typical it's a nice touch
