This beer had a bittery finish that really overwhelmed the taste of it. It's not a bad beer but also not really a great one either. It's just really too hoppy and the bitterness does overwhelm what taste there is.

Received in a BIF and enjoyed this hoppy red. What made it really cool was the beer was canned on 11-25-15. The day my son was born and I became a dad.

Hoppy amber. Not overly impressive , but good. Servicable. There are many others i prefer from this brewery.

I bought a 6pck of this from my Meijer's. It poured a clear copper with white head that is leaving a nice lace. The scent had hints of bitter hop and ginger/nutmeg spices. The taste is nicely balanced and easy to drink. There is hints of pine and caramel base. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a solid holiday beer. Certainly worth a try.

Lucky enough to have a can sent from Ohio. I'm typically leery of red ales — too often thick and simple — but this is a tasty beer. The hops and malt can both stand up. The hops with biting citrus rind and the barley brings a toasty bread crust with a light hint of toffee. The body it's too thick. It's sort of like a West Coast style red ale, in the sense that it's plenty hoppy with a lighter body. Closest beer I can think of is Dale's Pale Ale.

Dad brewed by Rhinegeist Brewery, with an ABV of 6.00% This American Amber/ Red Ale pours out a nice redish deep amber color with a nice thick white head. Really like the copper color of this brew. There is also a decent amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is rich with earthly grains and malts and a good amount of hops. Between the look and smell of this is one inviting brew. Now for the taste, it is bold and rich with flavors. You pick up on roasted grians and malts at first then a nice bitterness at the end with the hops. The body of Dad is a medium to heavy, but not to heavy. There is a lot going on in Dad, this is a nice full flavored brew. There is alot going on in this American Amber/Red Ale. I can't get over how smooth this brew goes down, it is really hard to pick up on the 6.00% ABV in this brew. The mouth feel is Bold, Clean , Smooth , Mild, and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving Dad a 4.25 out of 5. I would look this brew up again givin the chance to. Rhinegeist Brewery, did a real nice job with this brew. If your are a fan of roasted but hoppy brews look this one up.

12 ounce can, no canning date that I could find on it but I'm pretty sure it's a winter 2016 release. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy reddish/amber color with about an inch and a half off-white head that stayed around for a long time. There's also a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like earthy and citrusy hops, caramel and a bit of cherry. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some toffee, spicy rye and toasted malt noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's creamy and has a good amount of carbonation. It's also smooth and easy enough to drink. I thought it was a good enough brew, certainly worth a try. $9.99 a 6-pack.

Dad | Rhinegeist Brewery. Poured from the can into a pint glass, this beer's head is tan and three fingers thick, with webbed lacing, and a deep mahogany.

Smells like holiday spices with pine-y hops.

I taste quite a bit of bock traits with an enjoyable note attributed to the hops.

Medium mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

Overall, I'll rate Dad | Rhinegeist Brewery with a 4.25. Good, but not much re-buy value.

Sits in the glass almost a red wine tone of red to the body. Very deep and warmly inviting. Hosts a thick creamy light tan head that stands at about two inches. Head turns rocky as it slowly fades and leaves scattered lace behind. Nose is soft but does include hints of spicy hops and sweet candied malts. Flavors are a bit mingled as they enter the mouth. A mix of rye like spicy dryness plays with some vegetable based hops tones. Taste is the low point for this brew. Nothing wow and nothing that really makes me want to buy it again.
