Rare are moments of truth, when you've struck the last match, belting out tunes with your friends, staring deep into the campfire-times when you feel infinite. Our truth is found in the scintillating brilliance of hops. Brewed with a nod to the pacific, hops sizzle with tropical fruit aroma, grapefruit & mango notes and a dry finish.

Mango. Mango. Mango. Can't believe I can just walk and pick up a sixer of this for $9.99 anytime I want. I'm worried the beer snobs will descend soon and snatch everything in sight similar to 3F. Until then....

What a fantastic IPA. Crisp and clean. Citrus heavy in the nose and grapefruit on the tongue. Finishes slightly dry, exactly what I look for. Top 5 IPA in my book.

The Rhinegeist IPA is the flagship of this new brewery. It is by far their best beer and I would consider it to be the best IPA of Cincinnati. It is light in color, but full in flavor. It has a delicious fortaste as the beer hits your mouth and leaves a delicious aftertaste as well. The brewery is located in Over the Rhine near Findlay Market. Everyone should visit this establishment to soak up the atmosphere.

Got my Growler filled at Jungle Jim's.
Poured a golden ruby color with a light head, this is the only flaw to the beer! A light head and carbination. Lacing dripps slowly down the glass.
Smell - Friggen Hoptastic! I hope hoptasic is a new word. So it is a slightly sweet smelling citrus hop. Some pine notes. You smell it with every sip!!
Taste, just plain wonderful. Tounge gets overwhelmed with a hop bombardment very good! Doesn't taste too overpowering on the hops. Hops don't leave that bitter Linger, finishes dry and extremly smooth.
Mouthfeel- full and rich, light carbination.
Overall- This is one of the best IPA's I have tasted! I may have said that before but this is a very high ranking brew. I think it ranks above Fat Head, 90 minute and those are dang good ipas. I really wanted to give this a 5 overall because it is that good but with my experience in ratings I have learned there are many fine beers out there but this ranks #1 inmy American IPA catagory.

On tap, July 6 at Rhinegeist.

The pour was golden/copper with nice white head.

The smell makes me think Citra hops, as a bit of cat piss comes to mind. Those notes are combined with a bit of pine resin and bitter citrus essential oil notes.

The taste is the money on this beer. Again, I think Citra comes through. Great malt backbone for a very balanced hop profile of bitter citrus oils, light pine resin and light tropical fruit. There is great restraint in this beer. That hop flavor was still with me 15 minutes after leaving the tasting room, and it was still very pleasant.

The mouthfeel was spot on. Perfect carbonation and body for an IPA.

Overall, this IPA drinks with the best of them. I will be returning to Rhinegeist many times for this beer alone.

This is a strong hoppy IPA. It is as strong and aroma filled as ANY beer in the Cincinnati area. Unfortunately I have only had it out of the can ( why no bottles? ) It is also available on tap or in growlers at the brewery. As IPA's go, this one is right in line with the best in the can walk into the room and know someone has opened a Truth. Strong taste and clean mouthful on first drink and a strong and bitter linger afterword....but still pleasant. I am not an IPA person unless I am just having a beer. ..the strong flavor overtakes food for me so I usually drink lighter when having dinner. This is a GREAT IPA though and when I am just having a beer or two, this is the one to enjoy!

This American IPA hits the bullseye with the 7.2%ABV, and 75IBU's. Stronger than most session AIPA's, yet not as intense as the 2XIPA offerings.
Rhinegeist has a number of these 'bullseye' brews in my book, and I rank this one as my second favorite of their offerings, behind 'Hustle', the seasonal Rye IPA. If you're a west coast hop-head, give this Cincinnati favorite a try; you will not be disappointed!

Had on tap in a pint glass.

Pours a clear medium amber with a small white head. No lacing.

Aroma is very fruity with lots of tropical citrus along with just a touch of dankness. Very intense aroma.

This hop intensity carries over into the flavor. It is extremely juicy with pineapple and mango but a touch of that earthy dankness manages to hang around. Not much malt is detectable as it is basically all hops. Very high bitterness and a dry mouthfeel.

This is an extremely well done IPA. Glad I got the chance to try this one and I will be on the lookout for it in the future.

Pours a dark orange. Aroma is of grapefruit, pineapple, and just sweetness. Taste is real similar. Has a bit of a belgiany yeasty character to it that drys it out a bit. This is not a real bitter drink. Refreshing mouthfeel. Overall, this could stand up to any IPA pretty well. I'm always thrilled to have it on draft in cinci.

Can to snifter. Look is medium orange and clear. Smell is juicy hops, pineapple most noticeable. Taste is superb, citrus juice and a strong hop punch. Malt backbone is well balanced and cuts the hop bitter. Overall I'm very impressed. One of the higher ratings I've given to an IPA in a while

Wow. I've been around - as far as IPA's are concerned - and this one will remain in my memory. The first word that comes to mind is RAW. As in untamed, bold, brash - even a bit presumptuous.

Smooth at first, strong alcohol kick, bitter aftertaste that teeters on the edge of pleasant and offensive. Think of this as Ballast Point's Sculpin - but the troublemaker cousin that had some run-ins with the cops and just finished the sleeve on his left arm.

Well worth picking up if you have the chance. Unrefined. Unapologetic. And a heck of an experience.

Did I mention the BEAUTIFUL amber coloring and the perfect balance of carbonation? - just go pick it up.

Look: pour from 12oz can was deep yellow with a bright white two finger head that dissapated to a white ring and left moderate lace on the glass.

Smell: light fruity kick in the front of the nose followed by thick hoppy pine notes

Drink: light fruity notes in the front followed by nice oily hops that linger throughout he drink with a clean finish, only minimal hop aftertaste

Feel: crisp and clean for an IPA, quite drinkable

Overall: could be a goto IPA for me, quite enjoyable but at 7.2% could be dangerous

This "Cincy" made IPA has plenty of west coast hop notes and character. Well-rounded in taste and bitterness. Well worth the drink! Canned from TJs-Columbus, less than a month old.

Pours a dark golden brown, very nearly amber until the light strikes it. Starts with a small off white head that falls quickly to a think white cap, with bubbles of carbonation dancing to the stop. The nose holds mass amount of citrus, grapefruit and lemon, with pine lurking softly in the back ground. The mouth explodes with more malt than I was expecting. Light, and slightly bready, it's a nice touch, and something you don't get with most IPAs. Unlike the nose, the pine flavors dominate here, building on an equal level with the bitterness of this brew. As this pine note grows you can get brief hits of grapefruit, lemon, and orange peel sneaking in here and there. The after taste sees a balance between the citrus flavors and pine, along with a lingering bitterness. The finish is is somewhere in the middle of dry and wet. The longer you wait the more the lingering bitterness dries your tongue, but it's quite juicy on the off set.

Carbonation is spiky and feels quite high in the mouth, not something you'd guess by looking in the brew. A light bodied beer overall, it's an easy drinker if a little too bitter for my usual taste.

Really nice deep golden color. Aromatic fruity pine in the nose. Really soft bitterness in the body with a restrained bitter finish. Really nice and refreshing.

Poured from a 32 oz growler into a standard pint glass. Growler was filled on 5/31/14, and filled very well. Reviewed 24 hours after fill. Appears a clear golden color, with touches of orange throughout. Has an off-white head, that leaves minimal lacing.

Nose is full of tropical fruits, with mango and pineapple sticking out, as well as a good citrus presence, with grapefruit and orange notes. There's a touch of caramel sweetness in the aroma as well. The taste follows this, with the topical fruits and citrus coming through up front, followed by a touch of the malt sweetness, which is then quickly overtaken by the citrus in the finish, with a lasting bitterness, that goes down nicely.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with average carbonation levels. Finish is right where it should be, not too dry, and makes it easy to drink. Overall, this is another great IPA coming out of Ohio. The tropical fruits and citrus are the stars here, and it is very enjoyable.

The Truth shall set you free....this one is good. It poured a clear copper with white head that left a very nice lace. The scent had hints of grapefruit and pine. The taste was evenly balanced and finishes slightly bitter. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a solid offering.

12 oz can into a snifter. Clear amber with loads of carbonation. A 2 finger head of sticky, white foam resulted from a steady pour. Sweet grapefruit and mango on the nose along with strong citrus and hop notes. Medium weight with a crisp, clean mouthfeel. Sweet tropical fruit up front with an increasingly bitter flavor as it warms on the palate. Lots of citrus and pine on the back end. Finishes smooth and creamy and leaves a bittersweet hoppiness on the aftertaste.

Definitely an outstanding beer. One of the best balanced IPAs I've had in a while, although it drinks more like an APA. I'd put this beer right up there with Sculpin and Anti-Hero anyday.

Of all the beers my brewing buddy Bob brought back from his trip to Ohio, this was my favorite. BIG fruit hop nose! BIG flavor palette including pineapple and mango. A hint of honey, and even a little wheat, nice. Excellent bitterness to offset all the fruit. Refreshing, well crafted, and above all original.

April 2016 - served on tap in Columbus OH. Pours penny colored copper, white foam, active bubbles. Visual appeal. Tropical fruit notes throughout - mango, guava and the like. Sharp fruity bitter flavor that swirls in with a lightly sweet malt. Strong bitter fades out. Firm carbonation. Solid IPA, really tasty.

Deep honey color. Citrus and mango (props to gopens44 - I couldn't put my finger on the mango until I read the review below) nose. Really nice balance taste -- citrus, bitter, clean in equal parts. Carbonation is spot on -- flavor lingers, but not too long. Overall, this is one of my favorite IPAs -- plenty of flavor, but not so bold that your struggling with the aftertaste 30 minutes later. Definitely an every day beer. Hoping their distro will work its way a little further east in the future.

So this is one of the beers I picked up at Belmont Party Supply in Dayton, Ohio while visiting my buddy for the weekend. This looks and smells awesome, with a big rocky head and a complex citrus blend in the nose.

This is a really solid drinking IPA with lemon and grapefruit wrapped around a solid malt backbone. Really pleasant bitterness level, and goes down really easy for 7.2%.
