This beer is not the best but is great when it comes to drinking it on a hot sunny day when you are so so thirsty. It can easly be replaced with water, no bitterness at all with an avarage flat taste but with a great feel I recommend you to have it in your fridge once in a while.

Pale straw color. Smell is skunky reminds me of Bud and Miller, and why I used to not like beer. Taste is grainy with more of that smell. It's light and carbonated. I could only make it through half a bottle.

I don't have much to say about this beer. It's meh. It's not gross, it's drinkable, but that's not saying much. Why did I buy this, I don't know, guess I wanted to try a well known mass produced beer for some odd reason. No point in describing the attributes as there really are none that stand out.

Excepting a handful of especially repellent, high gravity malt liquors, this is probably the most easily available beer I've never reviewed. I was actually kind of shocked to see that I didn't tick it off way back in 2005 when I first started reviewing...at the time, I was quite the fan.

But I haven't thought to purchase a Beck's in over a decade. My friend brought some over, though, so I figured it might be a nice time to revisit what, in my teenaged opinion, passed for fancy beer.

It's a decent pour into a pilsener glass, pale yellow with a wispy white head. The aroma bares no trace of skunk, as is the norm with most imported green-bottled beers in the last ten years or so. And honestly that's a bit of s hame, as some skunkiness would at least be *something*. This is an incredibly light aroma with just the barest hints of fruit and hay. Say what you will about Miller and Bud, but at least there's some liveliness to their grainbills.

Tastes a bit more assertive...actually more or less solid. Light fruit up front, dry hops in the back, and a bit of skunk in the finish. It's nothing to write home about, but at least there are no off nodes.

This beer is a nice golden color with rising bubbles, it smelt of piney hops and wheat. The taste was remarkably smooth, however had a strange metallic taste afterwards. This beer had low carbonation and went down well.

Light and pale golden colour, smell is light and a bit pissy. Tastes a bit sour and pissy, underneath the typical big market lager flavour. It's better than big market American brands, but just ever so slightly. Meh, I won't buy this again.

DAMN this is disappointing. Not that this is a BAD beer, but that this beer could do MUCH better. I'll give a simple and straight-forward review.

Poured cold from a bottle into a glass.

Appearance - Barely a head, not really a lacing. Straw-yellow color. Just a plain-Jane yellow color with decent carbonation. Nothing special.

Smell - Slight skunk, nice pleasant graininess, kind of grassy. Good smell.

Taste - Very surprising and pleasant taste followed by a very surprising and UNPLEASANT metallic after-taste. When it first hits your tongue, it is a very crisp and refreshing taste. But then the after-taste, about three seconds later, lingers on your tongue like someone just rubbed your tongue with... something metal... pure metal. Very clean taste initially, but nasty after-taste.

Mouthfeel - Not bad, light, carbonated.

It tastes really good until that NASTY after-taste hits ya. If it weren't for that after-taste, I would have rated it a 5 easily. Unfortunately, the after-taste cuts it down by half. I don't know how consistent the taste of Beck's is, but it would probably taste really, really good on tap. If it weren't for the after-taste, I would be able to guzzle these like crazy.

Review: 16 oz Can of Beck’s: ABV: 4.9%

This is the canned version straight from Germany and not the green bottle variety that many have complained about on the various beer sites. So I imagine should be less skunky….

Incidentally, Becks were the first German brewery to use green bottles…..

On pour get a very clear, very, very clear, light golden yellow appearance, with some nice carbonation, bubbling away. Has a decent sized frothy white head that looks good, but does reduce in size but maintains overall.

Some small lacing. Overall looks pretty decent

For the aroma I get a very slight whiff of a real beery smell, but its quite faint, can smell the grains, all nice but faint …………

On taste we get a nice creamy intro…..but there is a very strong lingering bitter taste throughout that pierces this beer. It is slightly stringent and not very nice to taste
No real aftertaste?

Bit of a cardboard taste detected as well
Is possible to get a nice mouthful and the beer has some depth to it with the barley and malts, but….that overall sour bitter taste prevails, of sweet corn perhaps, and its not good, and I found this beer overall fairly hard to stomach to be honest. Not a good beer at all……….

From bottle. Crystal clear pale gold with a medium white foamy head that had little retention or lace. Nose is clean grain, not much on the hops front, not much at all I guess, but nothing off either. Flavor is...hey I got a non-skunky one! Flavor is light crisp and clean. Not much flavor, but easy-drinking and refreshing. One of the better mass euro lagers I've had in a while.

Clear golden color with a slightly off white head of soapy bubbles. Nice lacing down a tall pilsner glass (used this glass because I had a 16 oz. can).

Grassy smell with some white bread and slight hop background with some herbal odors coming out.

The taste kind of follows the nose with a bit of grassy earthy flavor. Definitely getting some sweet malty flavor coming through. A bit of some citrus that tastes a bit like lemon.

Mouth feel tends to lean towards medium with a wet finish.

A pretty decent pilsner from Becks. I have had the Sapphire that comes in a bit higher at a 6% ABV and with a bit of a different flavor profile. Both beers were quite tasty. This is brewed in the U.S and supposedly brewed to 1516 German Purity laws. So if that grabs you by the short hairs go get some and give it a wing ding and see if it fits for you.

Bad lager yellow with a super thin 1/6" white head that is obliterated quickly. I like the skunky aroma, so nothing negative there.

Super carbonated, a smattering of noble hops. Super light body. Its hot weather beer. Its light, it offers almost no barley or hop flavor, but the lager yeast does its skunky green bottle thing and I'm ok with that.

Beck's sold in the U.S. has been made in St. Louis for some years now, and the quality has really suffered. I remembered Beck's as being great German beer, which is almost a redundancy, but I hadn't had it some years because of the premium, imported price. It is now showing up at my local Grocery Outlet for $5.99 a six-pack, but it is so disappointing, because of how good it used to be, that I haven't bought a lot of it. That explains why it is now showing up at a value price.

Pours a clear, straw color. One inch head of a white color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of strong Euro yeast, hops, pale malt, and slight sweet malt. Fits the style of a German Pilsner. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is also a metallic sharpness and dryness. Tastes of adjunct, slight pale malt, slight Euro yeast, hint of sweet malt, and a hint of hops. Overall, good appearance and aroma, but the feel and body are quite weak.

Got this one in a trade so I could review it (and not necessarily have to buy a 6 pack of it). Had it numerous times before, just never took the time to review it until now. This beer pours a bright white head that is a very light froth. The head dissipates very quickly to a next-to-non-existent lacing. The beer itself is a bright straw color with moderate carbonation easily visible due to the clear nature of the beer. 3/5 The aroma features a good sweet dose a light pilsner malt, buttered white bread, and clean hops. The aroma is really quite sweet. 3/5 As with the aroma, the flavor is initially fairly sweet featuring the same light pilsner malt and buttered white bread. There is a very light caramel but the sweetness is mainly grainy. Clean and grassy hops come in during the second half of the sip and with it comes a fair bitterness that lingers lightly after swallowing. Along with the bitterness comes a metallic flavor. 2.75/5 There is a light carbonation burn up front but this burn dissipates quickly. Light bodied and clean with a light drying that lingers along with the bitterness on the swallow. 3.25/5 This beer features a good amount of malty sweetness and clean hops, but the metallic flavor is off-putting enough to cut into my score for the taste and overall. Simple, light, and straightforward. This has it's time and place in my book, but that would tend to be during crazy hot days and as a thirst quencher. 2.75/5

Beck's pours a bright pale straw color with a small lacing head. Very offensive grainy aroma. Taste is light (lucky), with hints of used dish water. Very watery and light body. Overall, its offensive, and ill tasting.

Served cold from 650ml green bottle into straight pilsner mug.

L) Pale yellow colour, clear, lots of bubbles, quite dense white head.

S) Not much, a bit of watery lager malt, hints of metal. No skunk despite the green bottle.

T) Very clean taste, bits of sweetness, bits of hop bitterness, well balanced.

F) Clean, refreshing and nicely fizzy with a bite. No skanky aftertastes.

O) Of the mass-market lagers available at lower prices for bigger bottles (£1 for 650ml bottle) this is one of the best options.

Clean golden colored beer, nice foamy head. Smells of grain and funky skunk, it has that memory smell once you have it you always remember that smell. Taste is clean, nice grain taste and corn, little hops in there but mottled skunk tones. I have had this beer a lot, I get in bars or BBQ over others. It is above other common beers and is average at best.

Made in USA on the label. We use to drink this beer as a "premuim" back in the early 80's. I think it has gotten worse, light struck green skunky taste and sharp biting aftertaste. It's costs double the price it should be.

Coors Light. The taste is non existant. I don't know what AB InBev did to the beer, but they messed it up big time. The beer looks like piss and tastes like water. There is no mouth feel and I can not denote any flavor. What a disaster. AB InBev is proud of this garbage. They proudly tout the beer as quality brew when it is made in some basement in St. Louis. I can not even fathom what they were trying to go for here, but it is not even a Pilsner. Save your money.

Poured from a green bottle into a beer mug.
Pours a pale yellow color that doesn't look very tasty with a pretty good foam head that dissipates quickly.

Smells like a watery Euro pale Lager.

Tastes like a watery/mild bitter german pilsner/euro pale lager. Hoppy, and watery.

Smooth, lightish carbonation, goes down easy.

Overall, cheap and uninteresting, thin and underwhelming.

Appearance is a pale straw like color with an average head.
On the palate it is smooth and slightly bubbly.
You can taste and smell the hops.
Overall a mild lighter beer that is not too bitter.

Light yellow color, white cap, some lacing.

Aroma is not strong but is nice. Mild malt with floral hops dancing in the background.

Taste of mild malt forward accented by enough hop presence to be noticeable. Approachable, easy drinking style European lager copy (clone?) made in the USA. Flavor is clean, rounded and finishes with a tingling hop shadow in the aftertaste. Hard not to like.

Finish is medium with a nice roundness.

Sometimes a beer no matter how well made is just a beer. This one is nice enough as a food beer but cheaper AALs give it a run for the money. A drop in the veritable ocean of generic European style lagers.

Purchased in a 500ml can, chilled to 3 degrees C, and poured into a European style stein.

Look: Lackluster golden-yellow color, not terrible but not incredible. Very little head that easily dissipates. Consistent flow of bubbles that slowly rise, minimal lacing. 2.5

Smell: Skunky, slight hints of lemon and grass. Surprised by the skunking effect considering it's from a can. 1.5

Taste: Skunky, as expected after smelling. Not much more to say, as the skunk effect ruins any other flavour. 1.0

Feel: Slightly dry, moderate carbonation. 2.0

Overall: One word can sum this beer up, "Skunky". One word can describe my experience, "Disappointed". 1.75
I wanna add, this beer cost me 2.70, the price of the average micro brewery can. Would never purchase this again, and will tell friends not to try either.

Poured out of its green bottle, this clear yellowish.... beer is somewhat good but nothing extraordinary. The foam doesn't stay, and the smell is like all other commercial beer. For the taste it is a bit more bitter than the commercial, so a little bit more interesting than other beer found in liquor stores.

The color SRM 1 or 2 give a nice look to the glass.

The 330 ml bottle retailed for 2.50$ (CAD)

Nice beer in overall.
