I pour to a finger of nearly white head. The body is a pale urine color. A decent amount of bubbles is seen making their way to the top. The head dissipates in a minute or so.

Smells of sweet grass and adjunct.

A wheaty/crackery malt sets it up in the beginning. Sweet grass takes over, then dries down to a stale biscuit flavor with a little indistinct bitter at the end.

The mouthfeel is light bodied. It goes down rather quick, which is good, because I have a second mass-pro beer to drink before bedtime.

Overall I feel this is a poor representation of the German pilsener style. It does taste like they want it to be good, but just can't seem to get it there.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains lager yeast, light caramelized malts and a faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with bready flavors from a thin malt character and lager yeast. Then some mild malt sweetness comes in along with a mild hops presence creating some balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Not very flavorful, goes down ok, not too filling, decent kick, not the best representation of style, there are definitely several other beers in the style that I would pick before this one.

Macro looking yellow color with a thick, foamy white head.

The aroma is kind of metallic and sweet, hints of grain but not much else.

It's taste is similar to it's smell. some grassy notes in the background but it's mostly sweet and a little metallic.

the body is in between light and medium with moderate carbonation and not much on the finish.

I probably won't be drinking this beer again.

Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Pilsner glass
From: Cherokee Market Beer & Wine in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $8.99 for a 6-pack
Purchased: Oct. 25, 2013
Consumed: Oct. 25, 2013
Misc.: Pretty nice looking black bottle

Poured a honey golden clear color with 3-to-4 fingers of frothy white head. Tons of bubbles coming up from the bottom. Sporadic spots of foggy lacing along the sides of the glass on the way down. Good retention for a pilsner on the top.

Smelled cloves, banana, honey, faint Circus Peanuts, bread, banana bread, caramel, apple, faint pumpkin and kiwi. More like a hefeweizen or something similar than a pilsner, but I did dig it.

Tasted not as much like the smell as I’d hoped. Got honey, bread, apple, kiwi, caramel, banana bread and some cloves.

Light body. Thin texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Abrupt, refreshing finish. Does not feel like 6.00 percent ABV, maybe more like 4.80.

I was pleasantly surprised with Beck’s Sapphire. Not too bad at all and I’ll certainly enjoy the rest of this 6-pack.
