This is an amazing beer. I am not one who drinks many Belgian style beers, but am glad I tried this one. Dark brown, cloudy with a thick, rich, tan head. Solid lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, herbs, and fruit. The flavor is diverse. Berries, dates, chocolate, herbs, orange, and caramel malt. Such a sweet malt base with a bit of spice in the finish. A fine winter brew.

The color is a dark brownish but in direct light, it's obviously more of a dark red amber. Streaming bubbles in the middle of the glass make a formidable tan colored crown. Fades slow to a scattered, thin covering.

A very candy-sweet malty aroma with sweet fruit, mostly cherries and apples. Sugar coated candy apples and a slight, spicy and herbal scent. As the liquid temp rises, the bold, sweet-fruity malt becomes more pungent, more sweet and dominating.

As the aroma is mostly a fruity-sweet malt thing, the flavor comes over with a nice spicy kick from the yeast, light and dry feel with very subtle malty tones at first. The candy/fruity flavored malt rides in a bit later on with a delicious tone. Red fruits, spice, thyme and the orange peel adds subtle hut effective depth to the already very complex malt and yeast. You would never guess the abv % to be at 10. It is slightly warm going down but is very deceptive. The quoff is crazy easy for such a complex mix. N'ICE indeed!

This one would age very well. Thinking of buying another 4 pack to have next year.

33cl bottle

Appearance: brown/ black depending on the light angle, 1 finger head that dissapeared fast living a white film. Medium to low carbonation.

Smell: sweet and boozy, brown sugar, caramel, slightly fruity profile. Very much like other dark belgian ales.

Taste: caramel and a panettone alike presence, dried fruits and alcohol. I found it much stronger and sweeter than Delirium Nocturnum for example.

Mouthfeel: despite the low carbonation it's strong on the palate, mainly because it's sweet and has 10% alcohol.

Overall: I liked it, but it's not my favourite style. I'd drink it again if given to me as a gift, but don't know if I would buy it.

Look: Pours a light brown color with a rocky, two finger, tan head.

Smell: Aroma of clove, caramel, red apples, dates, figs, thyme and burnt orange peel.

Taste: Rich and fruity upfront with moderate notions of winter spices and belgian yeast. I'm getting sugarplums, raisins, baked red apples, currants and milk chocolate upfront. Yeasty notes of winter spices like, thyme, cinnamon, clove, and gentle bitter notions of burnt orange peel balance out the sweetness. Has a clean, alcoholic, warm flavor.

Feel: The mouthfeel is medium bodied and moderately carbonated. Alcohol profile is detectable.

Overall: A beautiful christmas beer. Very good stuff, especially if you like belgian strong ales.

I've had this since Christmas 2015, so let's see how it is.

Look : One finger brown-white head, brown body.

Smell : Belgian yeast, orange, caramel, a hint of wood, some allspice. Very Christmas-y even after 10 months.

Taste : See above.

Feel : High carbonation, medium body, warming alcohol, pleasantly dry. No alcohol bite.
