On-draught in Madrid. 3 euro/half pint.

Rich and chocolatey, with a decadent sweet dark malt backbone. Any roasted barley is faint and reticent - disappointingly so. No coffee here. Maybe a blip of burnt sugars. Focus is on malt sweetness, which is fine, but does bring it towards dessert beer territory.

Weird schwarzbier-redolent weak cola notes hit on the finish, which I'm not big on.

Mouthfeel is smooth and wet in classic porter fashion. No alcohol heat here. Full-bodied, with a high chewy thickness; almost syrupy. That said, there is some odd almost watery thinness on the back end (accompanying the bothersome cola character). Well carbonated.

More intricacy and better depth of flavour is expected in a world class imperial Porter, but this is a nice barebones example of the style with few flaws - but many shortcomings. Easy drinking for a 9.8% ABV ale. I wouldn't get it again (especially at this price), but it's a nice little imperial Porter.

The colour is dark, dark brown (90 EBC), the liquid is clear. The finger thick head is compact and brown; it sinks slowly leaving some fine lacing on the glass.

The smell is very sweet with notes of molasses, chocolate/cocoa, alcohol, raisins, butterscotch and dried red fruits. It is rich and smooth with just a hint of bitterness.

The taste is quite bitter and dry. No notable alcohol, but distinct notes of molasses, liquorice and dark chocolate. Butterscotch and rye bread, Madeira and ripe plums. Medium body. The aftertaste got growing chocolate sweetness, green plants and twigs. Some clean alcohol. The finish is bitter and somewhat harsh with liquorice-chocolate.

The carbonation is medium strong, the mid-sized bubbles are short-lived. The liquid is light and somewhat smooth.

A surprisingly dry strong porter with a light body.

Pitch black beer with a one finger high, beige, head that leaves a lot of lacing on the glass.

Nose: Chocolate, leather, brown sugar, honey, vanilla, caramel malt, plum and molasses.
Taste: Smooth taste of coffee, dark chocolate, pumpernickel, dried fruit, roasted caramel malt, vanilla, licorice and nuts.
Body: Full body with light carbonaton. Smooth taste. Complex structure. Well hidden alcohol.

A really great porter!

Pours thickly. Black with almost no head.
Nose shows soft roast, liquorice, sweet bready malt. Enticing.
Rich roasty flavours, lots of sweetness too. A little booze.

Pitch black, a really really thin film of foam on top.
Rich toasted marshmallow on the nose, dark chocolate, burnt caramel, sweet coffee, dark licorice, faint chestnut, touch of raisin, faint smoke.
Lots of caramel and juicy fruit up front (fig, plum, blueberry), with big herbal/cola notes too. Sweet chocolate, light dark malts, not too heavy, with just a bit of dark bread crust and some light coffee notes in the finish. Floral notes here and there, licorice, faint vanilla, a bit of sweet nut too.
Feels really light in body, really easy to drink. Fizziness is pretty low, too. Aftertaste retains some chocolate, some light herbal hop, caramel. Alcohol is pretty well hidden.
A really smooth chocolatey delight, i really need to get my hands on more Nomada beers.

Overall a very good porter our friend in Spain have made. Nice black head with ditto fluid. Nive dark smell, alcohol really well hidden for this 10 abv beer.
