Tasting notes from August 12th, 2016
Had on-tap @ Alley Katz in Citrus Heights, CA
Appearance - Clear and purely golden in color, served up in a pint with a thin, off-white head. Fair lacing, with thin, broken webbing and some small, inctricate spotting.
Smell - Orange, grapefruit, a bit of cattiness and a solid pine undertone.
Taste - A bit of candied citrus upfront. Some stonefruit pit nuttiness mid-taste. Quickly turns in the finish and hits strongly with dank pine character that lingers well into the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - On the fuller side of medium-bodied with low carbonation. Fairly drinkable, with a bone dry finish.
Overall - True to it's name, and I should have known better. Well crafted, but it is waaaaay to piney for my preference. If you like dank IPA's, this one won't steer you wrong.
