Bottle Date: none, but bottled within the past couple months
Palate Contaminants: other beer

The look is a very clear brownish-red. There's a fine head that goes away quickly.

The smell is most like that apple-honey butter. Slightly vegetal, let's call it butternut squash. Sweet tea, but it's not that cloying stuff you get out of a vending machine.

The taste lines up with the scent, but the lactic element is reduced. For that matter, the apple is increased from the smell. There's still a lot of woody grain, so that brings it down for me. It's definitely worth checking out, though.

Feel is light-thin for the type. Not much carbonation, either. The apple and lactose are missing from the aftertaste.

Genuinely one of the best reds I've ever had. These guys are doing it so much better than most breweries in Eugene. That sucks to say because Eugene has a good beer reputation, but there is something different about Viking Braggot Company. Maybe it's the honey and I just like sweetness, but I guarantee you, there is no disappointment in any of these beers. I sincerely hope that they can expand and make the money they deserve. Come check it out and give them your money, it's awesome stuff. Sorry about the rant... Now onto the beer.

Pours a slightly cloudy brownish-red, perfect thin (a tad off-white) head that lasts throughout. Smell has all the qualities the taste has - balanced malt, honey, and a little bit of hops, citrusy honey most apparent. Taste is wonderful, malt and honey, there is not much bitterness but I actually liked that. Medium bodied, balanced carbonation. My go to beer here in Eugene, and considering the options, I think it speaks for itself.

This is the way beer should taste! Think of Reverence as a TRUE ale.

Note the balance of sweet & bitter while not being overpowering with either. An amazing aroma combined with an old world & complimentary aftertaste keep this ale delicious every taste, sip, chug, slam & refill!
