The Buckledown Painted Turtle Session IPA is quite nice. The beer poured a hazy copper with white head that is lacing. The scent is a nice orange peel with touch of pine. The taste is good...but there is a spice...maybe the pine giving a slightly weird twang. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall this is a solid session ipa.....definitely worth a try.

12oz can (canned on 06/06/16) poured into a pint glass shows a hazy straw gold body with virtually no head just a whitish cover.
Aromas include clean cool bitter hops and orange, or grapefruit, peel.
Taste hops and some hops, and a little malt to round it off.
Feel is light to medium/light and leans dry.

On tap at DMK Burger, Lombard, IL:

The beer appeared a hazy amber with a white head with little retention and some lacing. For a APA, I thought that the beer was over hopped, both on the aroma and taste, but that is pretty much expected these days. The beer had a lighter feel to it and a nice dry finish. Overall, perhaps slightly better than average.

Draft: Poured a pale yellow color ale with a medium white foamy head. Aroma of citrusy hops notes with some cereal notes and light grassy notes is quiet nice. Taste is a nice mix of citrusy hops notes with some grassy notes and light cereal notes. Body is about average fir style with good carbonation. Nice enjoyable beer with great refreshing factor thought hops extraction level could be higher.

12 fl oz. can, no canned on date or canning information present. My first encounter with this beer and this brewery, my first beer from BuckleDown Brewing, out of Lyons, IL. "Session Pale Ale" 4.60% abv listed on the can.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a light golden colored body, lots of tiny flecks of sediment floating in the glass. Two fingers of frothy white head that leaves behind excellent sticky strands of lace. Apt carbonation. Looks wonderful.

S - Aroma is herbal, bitter, earthy, and grassy. Fruity, spicy, & floral hops are very apparent. Biscuity / bready pale & crystal malts are also apparent.

T - Taste follows the nose: very herbal, earthy, & grassy. Resinous & piney. The pale and crystal malt flavors are present, but the hop bitterness is intense for such a low abv pale ale. Juicy & fruity with notes of oranges, mangoes, passion fruit, citrus rinds.

M - Feel is dry, herbal, & grassy. Light-bodied & easy-drinking, and the dryness lingering on the finish beckons the palate for another sip. Good hop bitterness for such a low abv pale ale.

Overall, a unique and interesting stab at the style from a new to me brewery, definitely look forward to trying more from these guys.
