Notes / Commercial Description:
In Bavaria, wheat beers were once the exclusive province of royalty, and it’s easy to see why. With their reliance on costly wheat, a refined aroma and a magical combination of complexity and easy drinkability, wheat beers tickle just about everyone’s fancy. They deserve wider appreciation. Straight-Up Hefe-Weizen is brewed with 60 percent malted wheat and 40 percent pilsner and other malts. It is an unfiltered beer with a cloudy appearance due to yeast and proteins that add a rich creamy mouth feel. A classic Bavarian wheat beer yeast is used, adding subtle layers of banana, bubblegum and spicy clove, the signature trio for the style. The finish is creamy, dry and just a touch tangy.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of sweet banana candy, Taste is lots of banana, wheat, a bit on the sweet side. Feels medium/light in the mouth and overall, a bit sweeter than expected for the style, but a highly refreshing beer.

Poured this a tad cold with a smallish, off-white, foamy head that quickly settled and some lace. Color is a hazy amber. Aroma is traditional with the fruit and yeast, bit of spice; but, yeast dominates. Flavor's like nose although it is subdued. Some tang stands out, then bitter ties with fruit. Body/carbonation are average. Finish is like flavor, with the tang again standing out and lasting the longest. No off qualities. Drinkable, but is nothing special.

I hated this beer, and is almost never say that, especially for a craft beer, or whatever facsimile this is to that. Watery hazy yellow in follow, no head at all. It smells stale and tastes like iodine. I've never seen this off flavor so developed in any beer as it is in this one. The watery and flat feel don't help, and what here yeast u can get through the chemical nature if this is too little too late. Fortunately I had some good beer from these guys in the same session so I can excuse this one, but boy was my bottle bad. Probably won't be back for more of this, one was more than enough. Yuck
