Nice black color to this porter. I asked him to carry my bags; he refused, so I drank him instead. Solid chocolate notes and only a slight ring left around the glass. Smooth tasting with a slightly bitter finish. A nice beer, but nothing to write home to Grammy about.

On tap at Tropics Ale House in Waikoloa. The best. Not quite as good in cans, of course.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuttiness, toasted dark/brown bread, dark fruit, light smoke/char, herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Okay aromas with dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. A bit too fruity/yeasty, a touch metallic. Taste of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuttiness, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, dark fruit, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light roast/char and herbal/spicy hop bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuttiness, toasted dark/brown bread, smoke, charcoal, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a solid American porter. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Nicely rich and well rounded porter malt complexity, with solid earthy hop balance. Aromas were too yeasty, but an enjoyable and well made offering otherwise.

Less of a bold flavor compared to other flavors, no specific flavor really stands out, and definitely not one of their better brews

Dark coffee black pour with a 1/2 finger of head.

Lots of coffee bean on the nose, with notes of peppermint milk chocolate and earthy malts.

Flavor is very ashy and earthy, with very faint hints of dark chocolate and fruity coffee. A touch of soy, hints of edamame.

Feel starts off flat and undercarbonated but quickly develops a spikey mouthfeel with a nice, roasty dry earthy finish.

Overall, not my kind of porter, very west coast - lots of ash and earth, with a generous hop presence. It's definitely got the west coast thing down.

Sort of a middle-brown color, even when poured into a thick mimic pint glass, with an thin airy tan head that quickly bubbles away into a lasting wisp. Not a super looker.

Classic porter aroma. A little nutty, a little bready, a little creamy, a little chocolatey, a little smokey. All malt, no noticeable hops.

Pretty similar taste, with the smokey chocolate flavors stepping up to the forefront, and the nuts and bread taking a back seat. There is a little hop bitterness in the mix, but the malt is what stands out.

It's got a bit of heft to it, at least as heavy as some single stouts, with a fair amount of creaminess in the feel.

Pretty easy drinking. Aside from the awful head, this is a very solid porter.

Courtesy of Y2kawakami, Thanks Sean! 12oz can poured into 12oz goblet. Poured a lightly translucent brown with just a cap of tan head that had low retention and lacing.

Very light roast on the nose, with a hint of sweetness. Pretty similar taste profile. Body is a bit lighter than I prefer in the style, but not egregiously so. Smooth and easy drinking. Overall, a fairly typical, but still enjoyable, take on the style. Worth trying if you see it.

I had this brew on a family vacation to Hawaii. From a 12 ounce can, the brew is deep brown with a thin tan head. MtheMthe aroma is roasty, and more malty than most porters. Sweet taste. With lots of roasted nut flavors, medium-full in body and flavorful.

A very easy drinking porter. A light, almost transparent porter which is a nice change up from most of the exceptionally dark and heavy ones thst flood the craft market. Gotta show love for my Hawaii breweries.
