Cereal Killer Oatmeal Stout is rich and moderately dry with dark chocolate and fresh roasted coffee flavours. Surprisingly easy to drink, this stout will convert even the most fearful of dark beer drinkers. Slainte!

I arrived at Lunenburg's Ironworks Distillery 20 minutes before closing with two immediate missions - sample their wares and buy a bottle of rum and, afterwards, find a nice stout in a nice pub. Yes, I know, that's more than two missions. Five samples and a new bottle of Boat Rum later, I took the advice of the proprietor who informed me that the best stout in town is on tap at the Grand Banker, just down the road. And so I went. Yes. A resounding yes. Cereal Killer might have a silly name but the beer itself is serious business. This is a seriously delicious stout and one of the highlights, so far, of my trip to the Maritimes. Now for the rum...

This beer changed my perception of dark beer/stouts. Incredibly smooth and easy drinking, and not strong. Coffee and chocolate hints in smell and taste. My new favs!

On tap at the stubborn goat. 4oz taster @ 5.4%: Almost opaque black color with a copper hue. Flavors of coffee, chocolate, roasted grains, and herbal hops. Slick and smooth medium body with a moderate crisp. Medium strength finish, a bit chalky, rich cappuccino feel and soft tobacco. Good balance but slightly dull. Overall good quality craft.

Can: Poured a black color stout with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with light black chocolate notes is quite enticing. Taste is a mix of light roasted malt with some chocolate notes with residual sugar notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Very well brewed for the style with good drinkability.

On tap at the Stubborn Goat in Halifax. Dark, dark brown with good head. Chocolate on the nose and strong chocolate on the finish. Silky smooth.
