Notes: Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm specializes in classic styles of beer “improved with Maryland hops”. The brewery produces 5 year round beers and rotates a couple of seasonal releases. In August of 2015 a new series, “Stillpoint Reserve” was launched. These beers focus on locally sourced ingredients, including hops, grains, fruits, herbs, honey, and other Maryland agricultural products.

Milkhouse has also started an “All Maryland Beer” program in December of 2016 that includes beers only made with Maryland grown and malted barley, wheat, and rye, as well as Maryland grown hops. We find that these beers have wonderful unique qualities you will find no-where else!

Please come out and visit the tasting room and share a perfect pint or two. We’re Maryland Proud – Drink Beer Grown Here!

I was very impressed with Milkhouse Brewery on all levels. The waitstaff were very helpful and Tom took time to chat. Beer was well-made and clean. Selection was respectable but not crazy - which is just fine with me. An absolutely great location set in the country on a farm!! Well done.

I work in New Market and have stopped by here a few times on Fridays. The staff are very friendly, including the head brewer who's sometimes there pouring beers. He's happy to talk craft and homebrewing all day long. Beautiful setting and nice new tasting room. The prices are a bit high for my taste. Milkhouse brews great examples of classic styles, but they don't have much that's very "different" IMO. I think that's kind of the point -- they take pride in brewing sessionable solid offerings. That's great sometimes -- but other times I want some crazy experimental brews.

Visited this place on a chilly, Saturday afternoon. Located kind of the middle of nowhere in the middle of a farm. Brand new taproom with a huge patio off to the side and a pavilion with picnic tables. Plenty of seating and absolutely awesome views of the farm and rolling hills.... one of the better tasting room settings I've visited.

They had 6 beers on tap and 1 cask available at the time. Sampling flights were a bit pricey compared to the norm, $14 to sample the 7 offerings. To their defense, the pours seemed to be pretty good sized. They also offered pints and growler fills.

The beers ranged from average (the IPA) to really good (farmhouse ale, stout). Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the beers. They also offered some local cheeses with crackers which was a nice addition to have while tasting.

The vibe of this place was really laid back and the scenery was amazing... could definitely see myself coming back on a warm summer day and spending the day sipping beers while looking out over the farm. Highly recommended to stop here if you're in the Frederick area, and also only a few miles away from the Red Shedman brewery and could easily hit both in an afternoon.

Overall this place is a great. You can enjoy a beer outside looking over the hills and farms in Mt. Airy, sit under the recently built pavilion at a picnic table, or enjoy it inside while pairing it with some of their food. It's a really laid back atmosphere and the owner comes up to talk with you all the time, he's a really good guy. If you don't mind a drive off the beaten path a little bit, it's definitely worth spending an afternoon there with some friends.

A small farm brewery in the middle of a field in Mt. Airy, Maryland. Beautiful farm scenery, decent-sized outdoor space with live music from time to time. About 16 high top seats inside as well. Typically 4 draft beers on tap with 1 cask option. Some bottled beers and growlers to-go as well. Beers are pretty good. Food options are limited, but it seems like it is fine to pack your own food to bring as well. A really neat place that offers a great change of pace from the typically bar/brewpub scene.

Atmosphere - Nestled on a beautiful farm in rolling countryside of central Maryland. Tap House is in a remodeled small shed style barn, complete with 2 very nice and clean restrooms and really nice patio area for pleasant days or evenings outside. The taproom with wood paneled walls is quite loud with talking. Something to absorb the sound would be nice.

Quality - I sampled a pale ale, IPA, an original bitter, and Belgian style farmhouse saison ale. All were average at best. Most of the hops in each variety of beer (aside from Belgian) had a lingering bitterness quality and not the fresh hopped citrusy/fruity qualities that you may find in more highly ranked BA American style ales.

Service - Owner was pouring the beers and was a very friendly and pleasant fellow and knew his beer. Prompt beers poured. They take CC's as well as cash which was a surprise for a small farm style establishment.

Selection - I believe Milkhouse had 5-6 beers on tap and some they rotate during the year. For a tiny farm brewery I was impressed with the selection and variety of the styles offerred. A Belgian Dubble and Stout are forthcoming as well as a cask ale.

Food - They don't have a grill or anything just yet, but they did have a local farmer that came and prepared plates of appetizers that included a mix of fresh vegetables, local artisan cheeses, jerky, crackers, fresh basil pesto on a plate and only charged $5. Everything was fresh/organic/locally grown and very tasty. Usually you would get something of equal quantity and quality at area vineyards for $12-$15. The value of the food was great.

Value - Food value super $5 medium plate/$8 large plate. Beer value seems about average for average quality beers ($15 growlers/ $5 pints / $2 5 oz. sampler.

Overall - I think they have the right idea going on here and I'm glad Maryland changed their laws to allow for small farm breweries to open up. Wonderful setting and love the grassroots brewery model their following. Growing their own hops as well. Take the drive out and enjoy a peaceful time in the countryside, visit Red Shedman brewery nearby as well and some vineyards nearby if your into wine. A fun day out on a nice beer day trip to the farm.
