Received in a trade a long time ago, batch 1, shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nude crystal clear honey copper hue hue with a one finger head that fades to leave a creamy blanket.

S - Aromas of very nice funk, light wine barrels. There is a little apple note, very faint pear like aroma along with some light almost grape musk.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, fair amount of tartness, nice brett funk, good almost generic fruit, fair amount of tart apple.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, crisp, good tartness.

O - Overall this was a solid beer with nice funk and tartness. Rather solid with good tartness.

Bottle pour at the release, a blend of 4 different beers (ranging from 3-25 months aging)
The beer pours a cloudy coppery amber, with little sediment, and a tightly packed, white head that shows mild lacing before fading. The nose is tart with notes of vinous raspberries, oak, and definitely some funk, but no component of this beer's aroma seems overpowering. The taste is surprisingly bright and fruity, with tart berries upfront rounded out by the oak aging and malt backbone. I'd say this beer has a medium body with its big, rich flavors and modest alcohol, but it finishes lighter than expected, with a lingering, dry fruitiness. Each of the four beers blended stretch the palate on their own, but together they seem to work quite well. I'm very interested to see how this beer will evolve over time.

A- Pours a very hazy and deep gold in color. The head that forms is pretty big, as the beer was fairly active coming out of the bottle. Retention and lacing are both really awesome. The color of this beer is really unique, as it is hazy and really changes tones depending on the light, from dull copper to brilliant orange.

S- Starts off slightly to moderately tart then transforms from there. The acidic and slightly fruity tartness changes to a sort of musty and yeasty scent towards the middle and end of the drink. Really starts to smell like Saison de Rouge towards the end with more of a saison and hops scent presence. Hops are not strong or bitter, but more spicy and contributes to the musty scent a little.

T- Starts off with a moderate dose of sour flavor right up front. Tartness is more similar to lambic than a tart saison in nature, being more citrus-like and acidic. Moves on toward a more traditional saison flavor of grain and yeast from the tartness, although the tartness is always in the background of this beer. Musty with some grain and the underlying tartness in the middle of the drink. The end of the drink is more spicy with a slight hint of hops bitterness. Lingering tartness is left on the tongue.

M- Highly carbonated and pretty slick on the palate. Not too heavy considering the amount of grain in this one. Tartness slows the drinking down a little, but the deliciousness keeps you coming back for more.

Overall, Cory once again made a tremendous beer. I wish I had another one to see where this one goes over time. Incredibly complex and delicious on the whole!
