Marietta Ave. is our Farmhouse Pale Ale that was fermented in and aged in French Oak Puncheons with Belgian Saison yeast and a blend of soft Brettanomyces strains. It was brewed with floral and citrusy American hops and naturally conditioned in this bottle for several months.

Poured from a bottle (blend #5) into a teku
L: pours a moderately turbid orange/yellow gold with a moderate fluffy white head that fades to a single layer of larger bubbles on the surface. No visible carbonation
S: great subtle and inviting nose here, nice farmhouse notes with a solid barrel influence and structure. Lemon, white grape, green apple, light peppery/earthy spice. Perhaps a bit of apricot. Slight Brett funk grows as it’s warmed, overall a more nuanced aroma
T: goes decently off-piste on the swallow, not sure what’s driving it. Flavor has a much more acidic open than the nose suggested, not terribly acidic in its own right but a notable departure. Strange overly oaky/tannic character kind of overrides the rest of the notes. Get some lemon flesh, a sort of bitter tea note, a little catty. Medium/long finish, just not of a great flavor. Either I get used to it or it grows on me after a few sips/letting it sit - regardless, the smell vs. taste disconnect is hard to overlook
F: medium carbonation, medium- body, nicely drinkable
O: not really sure what happened here. Nice nose with a pretty big delta vs. swallow. Flavor is fine, not my favorite and certainly not what I expected from the nose. Can’t all be winners

Blend #5 Bottle.
The pour on this is a beautiful deep golden hue. The head bubbles up to a low level and settles almost flat, leaving only a small ring of white foam around the inside of the glass.
Immediately greeted with soft Brett on the nose. The slightly cheesy funk is contrasted by brighter notes of lemon, pear, and stone fruit. There’s an underlying sweetness that really lifts this up and adds an intriguing complexity to the profile.
The palate is beautifully light yet surprisingly potent. An acidic tartness cuts through the yeasty funk really well, leaving you with the complimentary citrus from the hops. This added bitterness from the hops really does well for the overall profile, definitively setting it apart as a pale farmhouse ale. As it approaches 50 degrees there’s more of a white wine component, and with it an added level of complexity.
Light and fluffy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation and a lightly bitter hop bite on the finish.

Foggy yet shimmering burnt gold with a sturdy lumpy white foam head leaving some reaching arms of lace on the glass.
The softly fluffy medium-light body delivers a little weedy, bretty bite of bitterness and some hay, straw and grass before the barrel contributes a unique rosé sort of flavor, entirely unrelated to a floral note that comes out in the swallow.

The preceding review was for b4 at a bottle share, while the following is for a half bottle of b5 at home, poured 2/28/2021.
Here I'm detecting much more malt than I had before, kind of reminding me of some of Troeg's IPAs, as it's a little nutty, while also featuring a hint of catty hops in the background.
However, the body is exceedingly soft. It seems light although it's really a medium heft, but the mild, fine carbonation it has just lifts that weight up, while not being heavy or fluffy, gliding right down to a just barely dry finish.
It's still floral, but also plenty citrusy. I see the rosé note I got before, as the barrel meets some bitterness, but I notice a more present sweetness of citrus now.
