Drank 11/23/19 @ Golgi Apparatus.
Black as night, with little to no head or lace.
Smelled really sweet, surprisingly; a bit of fresh caramel in the nose. The palate followed suit.
A very, very good beer but I wasn't blown away; other Side Project stouts have done more for me.

Draft at SP Anni 2018
Pours pitch black. Getting notes of char, tobacco, wood, dark and milk chocolate, bourbon. Flavors have melded together nicely. Rich chocolate, bourbon, spicy rye bourbon notes. Overall a delicious offering.

5oz draft pour at the brewery tasting room anniversary and what a treat this was. later in the evening so my palate was tired but this was excellent. pitch black with a few bubbles here and there. subtle rye whiskey on the nose as well and chocolate, vanilla and a little roast. taste follows. thick mouthfeel. awesome non-adjunct derivation.

Shared during SP Brewery 1 year anniversary celebration. Pours pitch black with no head to speak of. Smells sweet. I think the age has turned this Derivation into my favorite one of all the series(and having them pretty much all at the same time solidifies how good this was to me.. Probably more because this beer is very sweet right now. No adjunct sweet, just a perfect dessert in a glass. No noticeable alcohol. I loved it!

750ml green waxed bottle, served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark black body, opaque and quite the brown motor oil; one finger offwhite head, good retention, minimal lacing as expected. Smell is spicy rye, chocolate, whiskey, oak, bits of of smoke. Flavour is a similarly heavy, smoke, oak, and a fair bit of spicy rye. In some ways this tastes more like Willett than a beer. Hot and heavy. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly smoky, fairly well carbonated, smooth, but fairly hot on the finish. Overall, a very nice big beer, although the flavours don't seem to melt as well as it should in a big beer like this.

Had the entire set from Derivation 1 to 6 plus Double Barrel at the Tasting to Sink all Sea Shepherds at St-Gilles Moeder Lambic cellar. Thanks Anton for this one and thanks Cory for letting this full horizontal become reality.
A: Pours exactly the same as the other Derivations, that is to say pitch black with some dark lacings on top.
S: Smell of vanilla, raisins, grapes and a touch of alcohol. Barrel dominates in this one along with a grainy and chewy character, maybe from the base beer.
T: Taste is booze and raisins upfront, with a huge amount of chocolate afterwards. Despite a lower alcohol content, this one is a little bit boozier than the rest of the series.
M: Smooth and sticky, strong to heavy body. Fits the style very well.
O: Not as good as Derivation 1 or 2, still a very good stout to try.
