M.J.K. was brewed, aged, blended and bottled in honor of our son. This English-inspired barleywine was conceptualized more than 3 years ago and was first brewed in June of 2018. As time has passed, three unique recipes for M.J.K. have been brewed and then aged for their first rest in Willett Family Estate barrels. These unique expressions allowed our ever-changing perception of what barleywine is to be explored and revealed to you through our precise blending of double barrel-aged and triple barrel-aged barleywine.

4 ounce pour from a bottle at Side Project on 3/12/25. 20% is hidden very well. Excellent version of the style that I enjoyed in every way.

Small pour from bottle at Side Project. Poured out a dark, dark brown color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy lacing. It smelled of rich toffee, caramel, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Sweet boozy taste with bourbon, rye and vanilla. Toffee sweetness with caramel maltiness.

Wow, I stumbled into Side Project and they were offering 1oz, $6 pours of M.J.K. I ordered a 4oz pour. To say the beer is fantastic is an understatement.
Look: Deep amber similar to Dark Brandy
Smell: Dark fruit, toffee and booze. Amazing sweet smell lingers on the nose.
Taste: Taste is off the charts, toffee, dark fruit, not too boozy or sweet. Perfection!
Feel: Medium thickness, velvety on the tongue.
Overall: This is hands down the best Barley-wine, and one of the best beers I've ever had. For me, Side Project is only a four hour drive to St. Louis. I would have no trouble making it a regular monthly destination.
