Purchased from Whole Foods in a 16 oz can. A complex coffee roast succumbs to an odd and perplexing sourness that I simply didn't sign up for. I've heard Mobcraft's brews are rife with quality control issues leading to sourness, and I just can't recommend them based off of my experience, either. I had to give it away to a friend who enjoys sours.

Appearance: Pours all foam and the liquid slowly builds to a cloudy tea color; the flip side is great retention and a wall of lace

Smell: Brown bread, nuts and coffee with cream; a bit of a tart character

Taste: Brown bread, nuts, coffee with cream on the front end but the beer has developed a lactic sourness that dominates through the finish; you can still get some coffee in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: The lactose has turned into lactic acid so the beer has developed an infection; not undrinkable but not what the brewer intended

Thanks, FlandersNed, for the opportunity

Dark amber brown, thin skin on the surface.
Earthy roasty coffee aroma, fairy smooth.
Tart fruit, roasty coffee taste. Light bodied, slight astringency.
Overall it's not bad, plenty of coffee aroma and taste, thin astringent body knocks points off though.

Pint-sized can:

Pours dark brown with a tan, foamy head. Spotted lacing sticks.

The smell is of burnt coffee, slight metallic notes, with an earthy tone.

The taste of coffee not as burnt as in the nose. A nutty brown ale blends with the roasted coffee. Sweet-ish with roast and lactose balance in the finish.

Hits medium-bodied. Enough to the feel to give it the higher of the scores I had in mind, especially as it progresses.

A solid nut brown ale with coffee (with milk). The coffee is more old-school American coffee than espresso. It's not rich, but certainly there. An interesting brew.

A brown ale sporting a blacker than black body. No light penetrates. A khaki head of two fingers forms on the pour and rather quickly fizzles down to a skim coat and ring.A couple spots of patchy lace are left behind but there's not much to look at besides the opaqueness of the body.

I like the nose on this beer. It presents itself with a hearty, full, roasty, coffee forward aroma and I honestly can't get enough. Coffee with a dash of cream meets up with a rich nuttiness bordering on peanut butter but not quite there. A soft note of vanilla rounds it all out. There's not a ton of complexity but what's there, coffee, is appetizing for sure.

Mobcraft dumped a lot of coffee into this beer. It's strong and roasty off the bat, a veritable cold brew. The roast is high but there's a good bit of sweetness as well, not much acidity. It's rich and easy drinking. The nuttiness accompanies the coffee well while vanilla pops its head up here and there. Again, there's not a ton of complexity but what's there is tasty.

The body runs along the lighter side of moderate, with an active carbonation. Coffee tends to thin out bodies but this one is a little too much, it's actually like drinking a glass of black iced coffee. While the body is slightly thin and the carbonation slightly high, this beer is beyond drinkable. It goes down e-a-s-y!

Mobcraft liabels this beer as a coffee ale. That's no joke. This is cold brew with alcohol in the mix. Who needs to Irish up their coffee when Batshit Crazy is available? Nobody, that's who. I'd buy this beer again and I'd recommend it to friends but mention the high level of coffee-ness.

16oz can with no date. Dark brown color with a finger of head that had good retention before settling to a thin film. Moderate amount of sticky lacing is left down the glass. Strong aroma of coffee so I do not think this beer is too old. But I am not sure there is anything else underneath all the coffee. Strong coffee flavor as well but it also has a bit of acidity that makes me believe the coffee was not brewed as well as it could of been. A little bit of hint of malt with notes of nuts that dow not really compliment the coffee that well. Off putting mouthfeel to this beer. It just clings to the inside of the mouth. I do like the carbonation level however. Not the greatest coffee beer that is for sure.

Dark brown coffee colored brew poured into a pilsner glass. Very thin lacing, no head to speak of. Light thin feel to the ale, Light carbonation to this brew. Almost like drinking a iced coffee. Definite coffee flavor comes thru along with a light creamy mouth feel. I felt the finish was dry and warm. My partner and I both appreciated this beer. A little outside the box, we liked that.

22oz bottle poured into HF wine stem split 3 ways.

Appearance: translucent light to medium brown bodied beer. Large 3 fingers of white head that has decent staying power.

Smell: Tons of roasty and nutty malt aromas as soon as the cap comes off. This is a great smelling brown ale and its also got a nice smell of coffee creamer. Almost reminds me of hazelnut coffee.

Taste: Smells just like it tastes. Lots of brown ale nuttiness and coffee creamer. The nuttiness is very nutty and a hint of hazelnut notes are present.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation levels. Creamy carbonation. Very smooth drinking.

Overall: This beer really over exceeded my expectations. This is a fantastic brown ale. I am going to look forward to future beers that Mobcraft brews because they seem to think outside the box and execute their beer well. I am an instant fan!!!!

Appearance- Poured from the can into pint glass, I got a huge 2 inch head on this beer. Not a good sign.

Smell - Brown malts were noted, with drier leanings.

Taste - I detect a hint of coffee at the front, but not much else. Beyond that, this is a straightforward brown ale with little body and a dry profile.

Mouthfeel- All of the carbonation went to the top of my pour, so this is pretty flat.

Overall- I have had better brown ales from home brewers.
