Draft at the Wisconsin State Fair. Outstanding beer - very refreshing on a summer day. Slightly sour, moderate grapefruit, lightly hopped. Go-to beer for brunch.

Hazy pale yellow pour. Slightly sour smell with faint grapefruit and salinity. Light flavor with expected salinity and effervescence for a gose. Citrus/grapefruit and coriander flavor blend with bright acidity. Light to medium mouthfeel.

Cloudy yellow beer, white head. Grapefruit tart aroma and flavor, slight salinity, sourness is lactic in character. Crisp and dry finish. A pretty well made gose.

Enjoyed this Gose on tap at Jordan's Big Ten in Madison. Perhaps Mobcraft has figured out their consistency issues, because this sample was delicious. The beer was VERY approachable, and had an extremely balanced but forward Grapefruit character. I wouldn't consider my sample bitter at all, but well balanced. The tart/sourness of the grapefruit was almost completely absent due to the salt... But I'm ok with that. I feel the beer was pleasantly grapefruit forward without needing to be extremely sweet. Very palatable beer for a variety of beer drinkers.

**edit** - Picked up a four pack at Woodman's and I can see what everyone else is saying about the lack of depth and off-centered balance. The canned beer was far inferior to the fresh keg. Such a discrepancy between the two is unfortunate.

S- Piney hops and grapefruit—almost like a hopped-up Radler.

T- Jesus, what is this thing? I don't mean that in a good way. The wheat is slightly there. The hops are extremely forward. The grapefruit rind combines with them and puts the bitterness over the top; that bitterness being the most pronounced character of this beer. Lacto is either not there or barely discernible.

O- It seems to be a common perception in Madison that MobCraft is hit or miss. This is about 20 feet wide of the target. MC is known for getting weird and throwing in everything but the kitchen sink. In this case, I generally like the idea. The execution, however, is piss poor. Not the least bit sour, the hop and grapefruit rind combo overpower everything else... I'm on my last can of a 4-pack of this and it's taken me 3 months to finish. I can't for the life of me understand how you'd classify this as a Gose. It's an overly bitter, IPA with a slight wheat taste that seems to mask everything it attempts to be. I've had a few good beers from MC (the Batshit sour last year, most notably), but this is just rough and a jump from everything it's supposed to be. No idea why it has a score around 80.

Pours a very cloudy, sediment-filled yellowish-gold color with a big foam head. Quickly dissipates, leaving some spotty lacing on the sides.

Tarty aroma alive with zest. Grapefruit, orange, and lemon. Wheat. Coriander. I know this is supposedly a mix of a IPA and Gose, but I'm getting a lot of Hefe here.

Not sure what's going on in the taste...The grapefruit clashes with the wheat and coriander and produces and bland, dull flavor that's hard to pinpoint. It actually works for the first couple of seconds it's on the tongue, but then it coats the palate and that bland flavor takes over. Not much else going on. Aluminum, funk, and some citrusy hops. Very tart and a nice, bitter, sweet bite on the finish.

Over-carbonated. Light bodied. Crisp.

Overall, you can skip this one. Sounds like a good idea, but I hardly am getting any IPA OR Gose from this one. It's like a bad, spoiled batch of a Witbier. Like a bad Blue Moon. It has a couple moments where it doesn't seem completely terrible, but then my senses kick back in.

Hazy pale orange, frothy white foam that leaves a collar around the edges. Lasting patchy skim on the surface. Looks more like a witbier than anything.

Smell is floral, coriander and yeast behind that, smells like a witbier.

Tastes vaguely tart, just barely. Not really bitter. Yeast esters and coriander really take over. Neither IPA or Gose, it comes off as an odd Witbier again. Vaguely fruity but not really any noticeable grapefruit. It tastes a bit bland. Light bodied, drinkable enough but not all that enjoyable. Seemed promising in theory, will pass on this next time.

16oz can. Served in a snifter glass.

Pours a hazy, cloudy medium yellow body, one finger white head with good retention, occasional lacing, nice thick collar. Does look like a pretty beer. Smells of lemon, resinous pine, mild grapefruit, pale malt, even a little bit salty. A bit stale. Flavour is primarily wheat, a bit of malt, mild grapefruit, a bit of lemon, minimal tartness, mild resinous bitterness on the backend. It skews more towards the IPA side of things, but it seems to be watered down overall. Fair amount of flavour, but it is all quite muddled. Mouthfeel is thinner bodied; like I suggested before, a bit watered down. Finish is mild resinous grassy and pine bitterness. Overall, it's another MobCraft beer that sounds amazing on paper, but isn't particularly well executed. Messy to the point of being somewhat bland, but not the worst beverage to sip on a hot day.

I can safely say this is the best beer I have ever had from MobCraft....but that is not saying much as the bar was pretty low.

This does not suffer from being bad so much as being average. Nothing too special here, look and smell are promising but taste is rather bland but drinkable.

Thanks to Chris F. for sharing this one at mrbubbler's tasting.

Crowdsourced batch # 9. Bottle # 688.

Pours a murky orange-brown with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is slightly sour with malt, citrus zest, and grapefruit juice aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly sour grain, citrus fruit, grapefruit juice, and salt flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is an interesting hybrid of styles, but it seems to lean more towards the gose side of things to me.

Serving type: bottle.

Pours a somewhat hazy, surprisingly light brown color, with a nose of grapefruit. Flavor is less grapefruit than expected, slightly salty, but somewhat lacking. More malty than most, and the signature lemon has obviously been replaced by grapefruit. Floral notes emerge late.

Discount Liquors - Milwaukee

Hops meet Gose, should be an interesting combination. The initial pour is burnt orange and heavily hazed. Tiny carbonation bubbles crawl up the glass and keep the velvety head intact. The foam is a yellowed white, beautifully creamy, and stubbornly strong. All in all it's a good looking beer.

A dusty, musty, lactic grapefruit quality gets things moving. Wheat adds twang galore. The wheat comes in large doses, or so the sniffer tells me. Both orange and grapefruit peel are soft on the back end. Somehow this all seems to fit as weird as it sounds. It's appetizing. It does smell like a gose/IPA hybrid with a bit of lactic fruitiness and must.

Wheat runs from start to finish and multiplies as it goes adding twang throughout. Grapefruit zest and pith pop up in the middle with an orange accompaniment that pushes through the finish. Lacto is light with a fruity tartness in the middle and a mild mustiness the rest of the way. The swallow brings salt and lightly acidic wheat, the wheat in spades. An interesting beer, enjoyable as well.

The mouthfeel fits this beer well. Huge additions of wheat make for a substantial body that's luxurious in its velvety feel. A bit of tartness and a bit of bitterness both linger long on the palate while the salt adds both dryness and a tingle. Drinkability is high on the chart.

I've never had nor heard of Mobcraft before but this is a good introduction. While it's not mindblowing it is unique, complex, and highly drinkable. I would pick up another of these if I came across more. Worth a try.

A: Very cloudy, murky, oxidized yellow-brown color. Pours with a visible viscosity, which is odd for the style. Forms a slight head/surface coating, but there really isn't much there. No lacing.

S: Aroma is faint, but there is definitely grapefruit in there. Citrus hops, grapefruit zest, and just a touch of something funky.

T: Considering that this is a goes/IPA hybrid, the taste isn't too bad. There is definitely elements of each: the slightly salty, funky quality of the gose; the hoppy, citrusy quality of the IPA. Lots of grapefruit. Sweeter grapefruit.

M: Medium bodied, but there is a certain slickness to this beer that seems out of place. Lower carbonation. Mild bitterness. Tart citrus quality.

O: Really, not a bad beer. Again, this beer has to be taken in context for what it is - that being the fucked up combination of goes and IPA. Certainly not the type of beer I'd drink on a regular basis, but it works.

22oz bottle.

A: Pours a very cloudy dark orange with a nice off-white head.

S: The Cascade figures most prominently in the aroma, but there's also some nice lemony/tart smells, a little bit of wheat, citrus.

T: Taste brings juicy grapefruit, light lactic acidity, a bit of sweet wheat, tangelo.

M: A tiny bit thicker than light-bodied, creamy carbonation.

O: Sorta off-style for a gose but nevertheless a pretty enjoyable beer from a brewery I don't expect much from.

Noticeable citrus nose which is really nice, no hints of the tartness I was definitely in search of. Touch of the nose carries into the mouth before the salt really takes over. The salt is almost hard to put your finger on. It makes the beer carry really heavy and hang on the palate. Again, no hints of tart of sour whatsoever that this beer desperately needs.

Great idea, terrible execution.

poured 22oz bottle into a snifter. Bottled about 2-3 weeks before this review.

A - Cloudy orange copper color with a 1.5 finger eggshell head. Retention is fair and lacing is very minor.

S - Light grapefruit and citrus zest. Notes of saline and some yeast. Seems like the hops are muted from the real grapefruit puree that was added to this beer.

T - A slight tartness that you would normally find in a ripe grapefruit with a bit of yeast. Ever put salt on a grapefruit and eat it, this is basically the flavor. There is a salty finish.

M - Crisp, salty, and refreshing with a light dryness.

O - This is good, but I was hoping that it would be a bit more intense and sour. If it was sold in 4 packs, I would buy more, but I'm not revisiting a bomber.
