English Style Barleywine fermented with Palm Dates and Vanilla beans and aged in Brandy Barrels for a smoother, sweeter full bodied beer with a semi-dry finish and a hint of brandy. Aromas of dried fruit and biscuits meld with woody overtones and delicate vanilla for a sipping brew that's surprisingly drinkable.

Brown beer, tan head, sweet smell, malty. The taste is quite sweet, the dates are hard for me to pick out in the flavor. Full somewhat cloying mouthfeel. A little off the mark.

Gusher with evidence of vanilla and plenty of brandy, but soured and unpleasant. Too bad, sounded interesting.

Rated so high as, even as it is unintentionally soured, it still isn't half bad, just no where near an English barleywine.
I remember opening my first one of the 4 I pre-ordered from the brewery with so much excitement and being let down. I think it could've been a great beer had it actually been what it was meant to be.
One can only wonder.

Soured with an unintentional infection.
Murky reddish orange with suspended chunks, bottle was a gusher, way too much carb.
Aroma had positive qualities, nutty almond, maple syrup, unfortunately a sharpness from the infection.
Tart and little else, nuances are obliterated. Over attenuated and thin. Not good, though there's a shred of what could have been still there. C'est la vie.

Batch 8, Bottle 1553
Not sure if they were going for a sour barleywine, but that's what this is. Either a bad batch or just a bad beer.

Have to rate this.. English Barleywine? Hmm.. Guess we should NOT have had this at a BWine tasting with the likes of Sucaba, MOAS, and CW BBBW.. Taste was off to me.. Sweet and not in a well crafted brewing way.. Seems to me it would have been properly classified in the Herbed/Spiced beer style.. Sorry Mobcraft but this was a miss for me

Sour/tart taste to this so called English Barleywine. No vanilla detected. Not sure if this is what it is supposed to be or if it is just a bad bottle.

So I had this twice. The first time it was a solid beer. Nice brown, murky color. Taste was sweet, caramelly, mild vanilla. Get a bit of brandy...smell was similar. Nice, sweet, malts. Solid, medium bodied mouth feel.
Second bottle I opened was a gusher and was sour/infected and was a drain pour.
I based my rating on the first bottle, obviously.
