16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 10/26/2016. Pours hazy medium orange/amber color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, lightly toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, lightly toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, fairly creamy, and slightly slick balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 9%. Overall this is a great DIPA! All around great Great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the big ABV. Very vibrant and pretty juicy on hops; with a nice malt backbone, that is not too sweet. A very enjoyable offering.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass form a 1 pint can on May 20, 2017. Look is copper orange with a thick head and lingering lacing. Smell and taste is citrus, pine and brown sugar with caramel and bread malt. Feel is medium in body.

This was completely unimpressive. For a DIPA this lacked the aroma and mouthfeel I would expect.

A - Pours a very rich dark copper color, very clear, and very thin lacing, carbonation is extremely low.

S - Nose is very faint with some pine and caramel malt.

T - Some sweet caramel malt up front followed with a hint of light tropical fruit in the middle and finishes with an aggressive bitter pine/citrus bite that lingers for a very long time at the end, some alcohol presence but otherwise extremely well hidden.

M - Medium body, dry finish, light pricklies on the tongue.

O - Well balanced through most of the sip, aggressively bitter at the very end, and barely detectable ABV makes this beer dangerously drinkable but deceptive. The very weak nose brings the overall rating down a bit.

16 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 10/26/16, had 12/13/16. Have had before.

Pours a nice looking copper/orange color, pretty clear, with a half inch head and some loose lacing. The aroma is lots of citrus- orange, mango, grapefruit, some lemon and pineapple. Light malt, a little brown sugar, a bit dank as it warms. Black pepper in the head when fully warmed. The taste continues the big citrus-orange, grapefruit, pineapple, some lemon, a good amount of brown sugar, malt, caramel. A light bitterness up front, a little earthy on the finish. Smooth, well carbonated, a good, medium body.

Great citrus, the brown sugar is flavorful and mellows the hops, while not making this overly sweet. This might not be at the top of the class, but it's one I really just enjoy drinking. Well worth a purchase.

Canned 10/26/16

It is a cloudy amber copper color. Decent sized frothy, light tan head with decent retention. Leaves some spotty lacing.

Smells like pithy grapefruit and orange with some piney hops and caramel malts with a bit of sugary sweetness.

It pretty much tastes like it smells. Some orange rind and bitter, pithy grapefruit. A strong bitterness overall. Especially considering it is not a super fresh beer. Almost too much. It comes across aspirin like. There is a brown sugar, to almost molasses like sweetness that is present throughout, but really noticeable in the aftertaste. It is a nice compliment to the flavors, but gets squashed by that aggressive bitter taste.

Medium bodied and pretty soft feeling. A little bit of a prickly carbonation. No noticeable alcohol.

This is a very nice drinking beer that would be excellent if the bitterness was dialed back a bit.
