on-tap @ the brewery

Nice beer - my 2nd from Steel String. Very interesting hop profile - strawberry jam more-so than the typical citrus bill. Light bitterness and moderate sweetness. Perhaps by accident, this was pretty enjoyable and a different brand of IPA

@ Steel String

Foggy copper-orange hue with a small, creamy head. Big, drippy patches of lacing coat the walls of the glass. Aromas of citrus oils over a decent bed of grain, lemon, and leafy spice. Grapefruit lemon, earth, and floral hop flavor with a noticeable malt presence that thankfully doesn't add much sweetness. Medium bodied, bitter, and textured mouthfeel. Not bad at all. Better than I remember it being.

Poured on tap at the brewery and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a hazy, opaque, orange-brown coloring with a filmy halo of off-white head. Aromas of a solid caramel backbone, with a healthy dose of grapefruit and pine tassel mixed in. Nice. Flavors are very citrus forward, with grapefruit and orange rind leading the way. Some tropical fruit in there, too. Solid caramel backbone, with a steady ribbon of resinous hops bitterness, pine tassel, and cut grass. This gets hoppy fast. I like it. Light and smooth in mouth, with a resinous and tart citrus aftertaste. The finish is dry, bitter, and slightly astringent. Very solid beer.

Pours an opaque, hazy orange, small amount of off-white head that dissipates pretty quickly. Leaves behind nice, sticky lacing. Resin, woodchips, bit of malt on the nose, some pine. Not as juicy as the label predicts, but this has some nice flavor, slight caramel without going overboard, bitter pith and citrus rind. Mild carbonation and a smooth, rich mouthfeel. Very enjoyable beer.

L - somewht hazy, orange tinged with gold, frothy head that leaves a good deal of lacing.
S- hoppy, citrus, grass.
T - grapfriut, watered down orange juice, good balance between sweetness and lingering bitter aftertaste.
F - Smooth, very smooth.
O- One fine beer. Very drinkable. I really like the fullness of the mothfeel combined with the citrusy flavors.
