A: Pours a thick viscous opaque yet still clear jet black in color with light to moderate amounts of active visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and extremely faint dark cola brown + garnet red highlights when held up to the light. The beer has a three finger tall foamy dark mocha head that slowly reduces to a large two finger thick cap in the center of the glass surrounded by a thick film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of spices - cinnamon, maple, vanilla, and fenugreek. That is followed by moderate aromas of roasted and charred malts. Light aromas of freshly brewed coffee and a touch of earthy hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate to strong flavor of dark roasted malts with a light to moderate amount of charred malts. That is followed by moderate to slightly stronger than moderate flavors of spices - cinnamon, vanilla, and fenugreek along with a light to moderate amount of maple sweetness. Finally there is a light flavor of freshly brewed coffee and just a hint of earthy hops. Overall there is a moderate amount of roasty bitterness which lingers for quite a while.

M: Full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth and creamy. Hints of dryness in the finish.

O: Very enjoyable with some really nice spice flavors/aromas that really remind me of french toast. Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol. Very enjoyable and definitely one that I'm glad I grabbed when I saw it.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. Label says Bottle Date: 12/17

A- From a soft pour comes a fully opaque black color body with a towering three finger tan head that retains and retains before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a half sheet of surface foam.

S- Carbonic acid smell and not much more.

T- Flavor starts out with carbonic acid that has that bit of iodine-like taste, then comes the expected cinnamon spice. The roasted malt brings a bit of char to the table and is pretty bold overall.

M- Thin and very spritzy. High carbonation and a medium body.

O- Overcarbonated. Not to the point of it being undrinkable but it significantly overpowers the spice flavor. Can't imagine this is what the brewer intended.

Good beer and if you like Belgian or wild yeast strains it's great.

Had on tap at the brewery/taproom yesterday.Poured into a goblet a deep dark chocolate brown with a deep beige head.Deep roast and mild earth with some light maple and vanilla noticed.A nice mix of vanilla, maple, and a hint of cinnamon on the palate with the roast and earthiness keeping it from being to sweet, the alcohol actually is the sweetest part of the beer. Not quite as"thick" as I was hoping for but a pretty good flavored stout.

@ Steel String

Black with some creamy bubbles coating the surface. Smells of cola, cinnamon, graham crackers, and a mellow touch of dark coffee beans in the back. Flavor is pretty heavily spiced which lends an overall brightness to the beer. Maple, graham crackers, vanilla, coffee, berries, and charred malt lurk below the spices, but it’s a little too much spicy distraction for me. Body is slightly more than medium with a dry finish and lingering bitterness. This could use some richness to offset the spices and dry roasted bitterness. Decent, but not great.
