Brewed in the style of a Saison/Farmhouse Ale, available in 750ml. wax-sealed bottles an on limited draft. This is the third release of this beer, and the first featuring Three Taverns Craft Beers in place of Heavy Seas as the collaborating brewery.
Poured from a 750 ml. bottle to a tulip glass. Served above degrees Fahrenheit.
(Appearance) Slow gusher alert! Pours a frothy foam head of a pearl white color over a moderately hazy straw yellow body with ample, lively carbonation. Retention is excellent and lacing is light and patchy. 3.75
(Smell) Aromas of cereal wheat, cracker malt, light pale syrups, some delicate honey and potent effervescent spices, coriander and white peppercorn. A light belgian-style yeast profile generates mellow fruit aromas, some delicate esters and a moderate dryness, but little funk or barnyard for this beer's aroma. Potency is moderate. 3.5
(Taste) Wheat malts, cracker and pale syrups with a medium-full sweetness, paired with a light fruity yeast, generating a light spiciness, light banana and clove. A bit sweet overall, not too well balanced but enjoyable. 3.5
(Mouthfeel) Texture is silky, chalky, moderately dry. Carbonation is strong, generating a light frothiness and a briskly crisp finish. Body is medium+ for the style, medium overall. Balance is slightly sweet over spicy and phenolic. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters. 3.5
(Overall) The saison impact of this beer seems a bit uninspired, with a considerable dominance of malt sweetness and candy syrups and an insignificant yeast profile to pair up with the beer. Drinkable and to some degree enjoyable, but I was hoping for more balance and yeast character in this beer. 3.5

Highly effervescent, but an otherwise solid albeit uninspired saison, Free Spirit is sharp, almost aggressively crisp, with full load of coriander, some lemon-peel, and substantial pepperiness. There's a measure of bitterness that rides that dry, white-gold grains, but otherwise there isn't a ton of complexity to this ale, much less demonstrable liberty or notable wildness. Still, it's competent and drinkable—if slightly thin under its massive dose of foam.

From a bottle, it pours a cloudy pale yellow, very carbonated, lots of active bubbles and a big fluffy white head.
The smell is barnyard floral and earthy, yeast, pepper, lemon, citrus hops, a little pineapple. The smell is all over the place, pretty unique. The flavor is more citrus, pineapple, tropical fruit, lemon, white pepper, yeast, light funk. Very carbonated, active in your mouth. I really like the flavor, pretty tasty.

Pour is a hazed pale gold with lots of tight small bubbles head. Nose has a fair bit of nice yeast aromas, a touch of pepper, moderate dustiness, a fair amount of lemon and a spicy herbal hop. Taste has a more pronounced malt, yeast isn't quite as prevalent, slightly less dusty, light pepper, a hint of bread crust. Hops are stronger, spicy and herbal, light bitterness in finish. Light body, well carbonated, very refreshing!

Appearance: Medium clarity ligt yellow, with a great big fluffy head and excellent lacing.
Aroma: Big fruit hop character, with a background of yeast aroma. Not yeast ester, like the aroma of popping a vial of white labs.
Flavor: Fruity guava, cantalope and citrus peel hop flavor. I'm going to guess the NZ hop is Nelson. Peppery yeast character. Malt bill is pretty neutral.
Mouthfeel: Light and refreshing
Overall: One of the better collaborations. Ever. Period.

Pours an overly carbonated cloudy yellow with about 80% white head. The nose features lemon and farmhouse funk paired with citrusy hops and sourdough. The funk is tame on the taste with clean lemon notes, prickly carbonation, and a touch of clove and banana. Overall, the over carbonation detracts from the experience.
