Formerly Rhapsody In Red & Raspberry Sour Asylum - Rapturous
Raspberry Sour Asylum - Rapturous is a fruit variation on Sour Asylum #4, the second in our new series of lacto-fermented sour ales. Matured on fresh raspberry puree and balanced by a pleasing acidity from the lactobacillus strain added to the kettle, this tart and fruit forward sour is one of our brewers' favorites.

It’s the perfect, easy to down sour for a warm spring/summer day after a hard day at work. Sour like lemon, with a raspberry aftertaste. Pours pink, carbonated, with no head.

Pink lemonade color with tart smell. Had another sour beer recently it was Athena. Did not care too much for that but adding the fruit makes a big difference. Taste Is smooth but not as sour, and the finish much better

Pours a reddish-brown color, completely opaque. Some yeasty floaters are noted in the beer. Quite effervescent. Huge white sudsy head slowly dissipates until just a partial thin crescent of foam on top of the beer.
Aroma has notes of raspberries, blackberries and cranberries. Notes of lactobacillus give it a slight yogurt-y like note on the aroma. Light notes of wheat underneath form the malt backbone.
Taste follows the nose with notes of raspberry, strawberry, blackberries and lactose overtop of a wheated base. Light notes of yogurt come through due to the interplay of the fruits and the lactose.
Feel is light, crisp and refreshing. Sprightly carbonation.
Overall a nice, balanced fruited sour.

Pours hazy reddish-orange, the smell is fresh and smells like raspberries. Overall the taste is out of the park for a sour: light tart, flavorful but not overwhelming. Feel is bubbly smooth. Overall great sour that is now one of my favorites.

This may be the first beer I’ve had that I can’t describe the color - it’s sort of a dark peach color with some red-ish highlights. The nose is easy, though - tart raspberries, which are also the taste, and it’s light enough with a lot of flavor that you could drink a few of these and not enter puckerville. Really nice stuff.
