Brewed by:
Three Taverns Craft Brewery
Georgia, United States

Style: Belgian Pale Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Single Intent pays tribute to Belgium's Trappist breweries, which make a lighter-bodied blonde ale that's set apart for the monks' personal consumption and not sold - hence the term Patersbier, meaning "father's beer." With a spicy, herbal aroma from French Strisselspalt hops, this crisp and complex ale is too good to keep cloistered.

Single Intent from a fresh growler filled near the brewery (Nov. 2013) and a 12 oz bottle (April 2016).

A light-bodied, crisp blonde ale with a rather good head that leaves sparse lacing. Semi-dry finish.

Aroma: complex: yeasty, spicy, herbal and hoppy aroma.

Flavor: at least as complex as the aroma, but with more banana and fruit, and more bready malts. There’s a lot going on here, and the flavor changes quite a bit from start to finish, with the finish turning nicely malty. Good balance overall keeps any one component from dominating.

O: At least partially succeeds in resembling a product of Belgium’s Trappist breweries, a fully succeeds as a light but aromatic and flavorful Belgian blonde. Refreshing, interesting and recommended.

Draft pour into plastic cup; I hate plastic!! Golden color with creamy head. I detect a subtle sweet smell (like straw), not sure what to expect in taste. Sharp on the front that mellows quickly and fades to peppery tones. Medium, balanced beer that was just okay for me.

A - Pale golden and clear with trails of carbonation upward. Creamy white head sits on top

S - Light clove, straw and a light malt sweetness

T - Bubblegum up front from the Belgian yeast before there is straw, light clove and a slightly bittering hop that sits on the backed end. Simple and easy to drink

M - Full creamy body with a light zip from the carbonation. A very soft beer when it hits the mouth

O - A simple and easy to drink Belgian beer. It's not overly complex yet has a pleasant flavor. I could definitely see drinking this on a hot day

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass.
Aroma- I get some malt, yeast, hops and a hint of citrus.
Appearance- This beer is a clear golden yellow with a small white head.
Taste- Hops is the big flavor that I detect, it is really good.
Palate- A light to medium bodied beer with real lively carbonation. I noticed that a previous reviewer noticed a peppery content. After reading it, I did realize that was what I was sensing. very cool
Overall- A really good brew. This is my first beer from this brewer. It won't be my last.

Three Taverns is a local brewery for me. I've had Single Intent on tap and in the bottle. It is one of my favorite session beers. It is very true to the style and getting it fresh helps. If you like the unique flavor profile of Belgium beers, you'll enjoy Single Intent.
