Poured from a draft into a pint glass at ABQ Pub in Albuquerque, N.M., on April 21, 2012. It was tough to see with the lighting, but seemed to be caramel amber. About a finger of head once I got it. White, frothy lacing on the top. Wet, foamy and spongy film on the sides.

Worked hard to find a smell, but eventually got some roasty, nutty and toasty malts.

Tasted somewhat similar to the nose. Nutty, roasty malts. Seemed to get some light chocolate notes as well. Foamy and smooth.

Medium body. Creamy texture. Above average carbonation. Smooth, somewhat long finish.

It was an OK beer overall. It had its moments and I might have enjoyed it more (or less) if I wasn’t at a UFC fight.

12 oz bottle bought on impulse for the name.

Appearance was an amber color with white head

Smell sweet malt with a light hops

Taste was a mix of oak, vanilla and some smokiness to it.

Mouthfeel medium with some carbonation feel

Overall not bad but nothing that really stands out except the name.

A: Pours a dark color with no head what so ever.

S: Odd rich fruity figs plums raisinswith licorice taste not expected at all.

T: Same as smell this is not a bad thing just not expecting this for the style.

M: Medium bodied to heavy, no bubbles streaming to top or anything happening here.

O: Maybe with the right dish would be good but ok at best in this glass today.

Had this while in Santa Fe. I was seeing it everywhere and finally decided to get a pint on my last night while at the hotel.

Nice dark cinnamon color, didn't have much of a head or leave any lace.

Lightly carbonated, very easy drinking, I wished I had gotten a second. But we had some trouble with the staff at the hotel and decided that they didn't deserve to get any more of our money...

For an American Amber this was great IMO. Nice and malty, caramel undertones and nice earthy hops for balance.

Overall it is what it is. This seems to have more bad reviews, but how many beers in this style actually wow you? This one was one of the better ambers I've ever had.

Reddish-brown, clear, decent head and sparse lace.

Aroma and flavor is quite malty, caramel malt, sweetness, a little herbal and a little earthy.

Body is pretty light, and despite the low IBUs, bittered enough to be pretty balanced. Carbonation is low but ample enough.

Overall it's not fantastic, but it's refreshing enough that I'll enjoy each of the six bottles quite nicely.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Look - medium brown in color, with about half a finger's worth of foam that dissipates quickly.

Smell - malty, somewhat sweet like caramel or cookies.

Taste - much like the smell, it's definitely more malty, and it has an essence of something sweet like caramel in the back of the palate.

Mouthfeel - pretty well-balanced, but leans ever so slightly on the watery side.

Overall - not a bad tasting brew at all, but also not terribly intriguing to sample.

Golden-amber body produced a pretty nice white head. Smell came across with a caramel/biscuit/slightly fruity (slightly apricot) profile. Taste is malty with a slight tartness, perhaps a bit of honey-like sweetness. No real hop bitterness noted overall. Mouthfeel is soft and wet, smooth with a nearly medium weight feel on the tongue.

A pleasant and unassuming beer. Overall seemed a little watery in taste, yet the light bread malt tone gently keeps you sipping along.

Appearance - Clear amber body with some visible carbonation. Slightly off-white head with medium-low retention.

Smell - Black cherry. Roasted character. Sweet. A little bit of hop. Sweet licorice. Smells good, but a little too sweet. Not enough balance.

Taste - Very sweet frontend with a dry finish. Too sickly sweet.

Mouthfeel - Good body and carbonation.

Drinkability - Too thick and heavy to be a session beer. More like a dessert beer at best.

Surprisingly, I found nothing bad or overly dull about this gimmicky beer. I like that it stays in theme. Seems the entire town of Roswell is a gimmick. Not that I have a problem with that. Anyway, onto the beer, it definitely stands out from the amber ale crowd. It's got a yeasty thickness and a distinct taste of wheat. It's got little to no hop bitterness. These are things I generally appreciate in a beer, but all in all, I can't really say I find anything pleasant about this beer. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think it could use a hop or two. I would say this nice yeasty beer is basically "OK" as far as the flavour going on and I absolutely wouldn't suggest drinking it anywhere near Roswell. Not refreshing at all. Maybe up in the mountains, it'd be pleasant, but not at its craft brew price tag. I regret saying anything bad about a beer that's trying to stay away from hops, but I would not buy this again. It's decent, but not worth paying for.
