We have blended eight different types of barley to create this amber ale. It appeals to the largest segment of craft beer drinkers who enjoy a smooth, malty ale with no hop bitterness.

Surprisingly, I found nothing bad or overly dull about this gimmicky beer. I like that it stays in theme. Seems the entire town of Roswell is a gimmick. Not that I have a problem with that. Anyway, onto the beer, it definitely stands out from the amber ale crowd. It's got a yeasty thickness and a distinct taste of wheat. It's got little to no hop bitterness. These are things I generally appreciate in a beer, but all in all, I can't really say I find anything pleasant about this beer. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think it could use a hop or two. I would say this nice yeasty beer is basically "OK" as far as the flavour going on and I absolutely wouldn't suggest drinking it anywhere near Roswell. Not refreshing at all. Maybe up in the mountains, it'd be pleasant, but not at its craft brew price tag. I regret saying anything bad about a beer that's trying to stay away from hops, but I would not buy this again. It's decent, but not worth paying for.

Bottle at Little Anita's, Albuquerque, NM

A: The beer is clear amber in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high light beige he'd that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Faint aromas of pale and toasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of pale and caramel malts with a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied and a little smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This amber ale isn't that difficult to drink on a hot summer day as it's not too heavy on the palate.

Tasted from a 12 oz bottle bought in New Mexico.

L - Pretty copper color and very clear. Off-white head is low but stable as a thick sheet and sticky lacing.

S - Aroma is faint and hard to distinguish. All I get is a low cracked grain aroma and a low earthy hop note. There's nothing negative about the aroma, but there just isn't much going on.

T - Malt dominates the flavors, with a strong crystal malt twang and then some cracked grain. In the finish are some earthy, herbal hops. There is not much depth or complexity to the flavor profile.

F - Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Low to medium hops bitterness. No alcohol heat.

O - This is an OK, generally average amber ale. There is nothing wrong with it, but it is not distinctive in any way, either.

With a pristine amber color, it has flavors of caramel, biscuits and a hint of apricot. It is nice and malty and is balanced from mouthfeel to aftertaste, albeit with a brisk carbonation. The aroma follows the flavor with little more apricot and yeasty bread, as we get to the nice bready aftertaste in the end. Overall, this is a great competitor to the Red Trolley Ale from Karl Strauss Brewery in San Diego, only in a different style.

I was intrigued by the look of the label, and I enjoy amber ales usually with dinner.
First sip I wasn't sure about the taste, the more I started to drink it I ended up really enjoying it. Kind of hoppy at first then really balances out with a sweet finish. Good beer.

The bottle definitely caught my attention, and knowing my love's aversion to IPAs, I thought an Amber would work nicely. Although I wasn't absolutely blown away by it's flavor or mouthfeel, I did find Alien Amber an easy-drinking beer that I'm glad I tried. I've gone away lately from tasting like a big boy and using a glass, and will instead drink straight from the bottle/can/whatever, so this review can be taken with a few grains of salt. Like someone else said, you could do worse.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark bronze amber with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of bready malt, brown bread, dark fruit; almost a red ale profile. Flavor follows aroma, with bready malt with slight caramel, brown bread, suggestions of dark fruit; starts hopefully, almost like a mild dopplebock, but the flavor drops off rapidly to a dry, thin almost tea like finish. Lingering astringent bitterness. Light to medium bodied. Well, the start of this left me hoping that it would be the best of the three beers I got to try from this brewery, but the finish is just too stark. An average amber, drinkable but not memorable. Nice color and alien on the bottle, but that's all.

A: Reddish Brown in color, thin off white head, spotty lacing

S: Bread, toast, slight hoppiness

T: Sweet, bread, malts, slight hoppy bitterness at the end

M: Light to medium

O: A pretty decent beer. I wouldnt think twice about ordering one of these again. Nothing special but it has a nice maltiness and a little hop balance just like you would expect from an amber ale.
