2021 vintage. 750ml capped bottle into a Side Project BBT snifter.
Pours viscous, dense, and dark. Mocha legs stain the glass. No head, no lace. Nose is leather, chocolate, vanilla, and booze with slight hints of raisin and plum. Simple but strong and bold. Beer opens raisin, dried plum, and barrel. Boozy with oak, leather, and tobacco notes. Chocolate, anise, and a touch of sweet soy sauce towards the finish. Nice balance between the sweetness and the roast at the end. Body is medium to full with low carbonation. Chewy and boozy on the palate and goes down messy with a long, lingering aftertaste. A touch on the thin side.
Certainly a well-made beer that's starting to take a downturn at this point. Body is thining out and the barrel, while still present, is separating from the rest of the flavor profile.
