2019 vintage; drank 8/9/19 @ the Yarchives.

Midnight black, with a thick, sticky mouthfeel.

Very little head or lacing.

Notes of vanilla & dark chocolate in the nose.

Taste follows...not real balanced, & the walnuts didn't stand a chance. Over the top, but not terrible.

IMO this has to be the best Angry Chair Stout I have ever had..

Think melted ice cream in a glass.
No your heavy typical desert stout.
Just the right amount of sweetnesses

Marshmallow Chocolate and Vanilla Notes.

Let me preface this by saying this is my first AC stout.

This thing is ridiculously sweet. Like, you're gonna get a cavity just smelling it.
All jokes aside, it smells fantastic. You get all the adjuncts just from smelling.

Like I said above, it's extremely sweet. The vanilla and chocolate smack you in the face, and the walnuts are on the back end.

Overall, consuming the whole bottle by myself was difficult. I would definitely recommend sharing it for sure. Or do what I did, and mix it with some ice cream to make a float, 10/10 would recommend doing that.

A - Dark brown / black pour, dense toffee colored lacing, lots of stick legs on the glass.

S - Chocolate, fudge, creme, vanilla,

T - Fudge, fudge cake, vanilla, creme, vanilla, maple, walnut, cocoa, and alcohol. Lingering cocoa creme and alcohol and the back end.

M - Full body and velvety with a dry back end finish.

O - This one "wow'd" me!

Poured out as a rich deep black color with a brown head on top. The smell of the beer is sweet with a lot of chocolate syrup aroma coming off of it. The taste again has sweet chocolate, marshmallow and roasted nuts all meshing together to make this a very decedent beer. The feel is slick and chewy, works really well for the style and for what they were attempting to make here. Overall it's a very good beer and wouldn't mind having again someday.

This one pours a fairly dark black, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells incredibly sweet, with tons of vanilla, some cake icing, walnut syrup, and chocolate.

These Angry Chair stouts are all so blindingly sweet. They're definitely tasty, but I couldn't imagine drinking more than 4-5 oz of any of them. The vanilla is dominant here, feels like syrupy and creamy icing, with creamy and syrupy walnut flavors, and sweet milk chocolate.

This is medium bodied, thick, creamy, and syrupy, with a lower level of carbonation.

This is a crazy beer. It's almost too much.

Smell: Vanilla beans, chocolate chip ice cream, fudge, walnuts, and hazelnuts.
Taste: Very sweet, Vanilla beans, chocolate chip ice cream, walnuts, and hazelnuts.
Mouthfeel: Medium full and sticky.
Overall: A very good pastry stout from Angry Chair.

L - pitch black with dark brown head

S - Melted oreos. Huge chocolate and vanilla. Subtle nutiness.

T - Dessert in a glass. Dark chocolate Hershey syrup, vanilla for days. Subtle coffee.

F -Thick and velvety. Smooth body. No alcohol found

O - Liquid dessert. Doesn't deliver fully on the walnut aspect, but everything else is top notch.

Dark black body, one finger offwhite head, good retention. No lacing. Smell is mildly nutty with a nice milk chocolate presence to go along with vanilla. The cacao contributes some balance with bitterness, but the base sweet stout is dominant and the vanilla only helps it get more sweeter. The cacao barely helps bring it down, but this is actually a fairly delicious sweet stout. I enjoyed this one, but I find that this is more enjoyable in smaller amounts, say 4 oz.

750ml bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours a deep black color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that reduces to a ring around the edge

S- opens with a huge creamy marshmallow/vanilla bean note, followed by silky rich milk chocolate and caramel. I can definitely pick out a roasted nutty note, with more vanilla popping out. You won't find much more vanilla aroma in a beer

T- taste follows aroma with a huge marshmallow note, like roasted marshmallow infused with a fresh vanilla bean. Mid-palate gives some silky milk chocolate notes, as well as some caramel flavors. The finish gives more marshmallow/vanilla bean, with a milk chocolate linger

M- medium body and moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly warming finish

O- vanilla bomb throughout with a huge marshmallow note, outstanding

everything i've had from these guys has been good! a tad sweet but good.

thanks to ravishing for this bad boy

looks great. motor oil, completely black and thick.

aroma is inviting! big malts, vanilla and some nitriness. if i didn't know there was walnuts i wouldn't pick them up but they are there

flavor is great. big chewy thick stout, big roasty stout cut by vanilla sweetness, thisnis excellent. better than i expected! real good aftertaste that lingers. nuttiness in the finish

mouthfeel is thick and immense! this is a real stout. abv well hidden but alch in the faint back. good carb for the style. tongue coating

overall this is excellent! i'm going through this guy easily, hopefully it doesn't give me a hang over but it might because it's very sweet. if you don't like sweet beers this might not be for u. if you don't mind some sweet you're going to dig this one!

thanks ravishing!!

Bottle and tap fresh from brewery.

The appearance was dark, very dark. As if the glass was painted black.

The smell was sweet with chocolate and walnuts. Absolutely amazing smell.

Taste followed the nose perfectly, sweet but not overwhelming, perfect balance with chocolate, vanilla and roasted walnuts.

The mouthfeel was thick and sticky.

Possibly my favorite brew from Angry Chair

Very dark beer with no light passing through. Caramel color head that went away fast. Could smell marshmallows and smells very boozy. Taste was sweet with the marshmallows and chocolate.

Tan head. Black in color.

Peanuts and fudge. Chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and marshmallow. This is straight up dessert.

Full bodied. Thick and rich.

This is a very fine stout. Impressed.

Shared a bottle with several patrons at the Toppling Goliath tap room in Decorah, IA. I mention that specifically because those folks have all had some of the best stouts in the business. Rocky Road was a HIT to say the least. It was a unanimous A+ beer in the minds of everyone who got a taste.

Many thanks to Eric, whom I met at the Angry Chair tasting room in Tampa a few weeks back. If we cross paths again someday, I will surely owe him one of my finest brews at that time. In addition to Rocky Road, he gave me an Imperial Awakening and a Popinski. I look forward to drinking them soon.

Angry Chair is now firmly on my radar. I will seek out their brews in future trades for sure. And with that said, Tampa in general is a great beer city. I look forward to visiting again soon!

Oh yeah... about this beer specifically, not much else needs to be said. The name is a perfect fit. It tastes amazingly like its namesake ice cream. I can't imagine anyone will ever give it a poor review.

Enjoyed on-tap at the brewery in Tampa. Rocky Road is one of the better "dessert" stouts that I have ever had and really nails all of the Rocky Road flavors perfectly. Great brew!

Pours deep brown with small ring of head. Smell is of chocolate, vanilla, toasted walnuts - you know, Rocky Road. Taste follows nose. Big sweetness. Lots of walnut, vanilla, marshmallow. Decadent! Feel is almost cloyingly sweet. Really nice beer but not sure how much I could drink due to the overt sweetness.

*taste heavier side of medium but not full body
*smell vanilla and walnut heavy on the nose
*little lacing upon intial pour
*Poured into a Spiegelau Stout Glass(tulip glass at the brewery)
Bought this on release day, and happy that I did. Had a sample pour and the brewery then bought two bottles. Initally the vanilla was stronger then the walnut in smell.

From 750ml bottle fresh release and from another cellared bottle few months later. Poured into a Mastry's tulip.

Pours a thick jet black with minimal head. Nice oily lacing on glass after a swirl.

Smells just like old school Publix Rocky Road ice cream, total flashback. Amazing aroma!

Tastes as expected, Chocolate ice cream with that distinct marshmallow aftertaste. How the F do they do it? Are they lucky or geniuses at tasteology.

Overall this flavored Sweat Stout is by far one of the most enjoyable of this style to drink.
