A stark ink black liquid builds a large and persistent mocha foam, which is surprising for Angry Chair, as I usually get minimal carbonation out of their stouts, especially the BA variations.
Smell is roasty, nutty molasses and chocolate syrup followed by a really ashy, super wet and deteriorating sort of charred oak.
Roasty flavors of molasses and a ton of aged raisin are met with charred oak and toasted seeds with accents of chocolate covered strawberry and nougat. Sweetness swiftly accumulates, which is a shame because at first it seems like a solid, old school roasty imperial stout supported by no flavorings, but it becomes intolerably sweet in a short amount of time. Sure, they put it in the Sweet Stout category. Kudos...?
The body is thin and slick with a crisp thin carbonation and a sticky, semi-dry finish.
