As few had whispered, and I'd only realized in reading the actual ingredients just prior to the Super Rad event, this was BA Rocky Road x10.

Tons of walnut explodes on both the nose and the palate in a way I'm not sure I've ever experienced before. The roasted walnut character is more expressive here than I've probably ever experienced in any beer with any kind of added nuts before, and it's so delectably savory and complementary to the otherwise pastry explosion going on here that it's absurd.

A mature barrel character underlies chocolatey vanilla and sticky marshmallow that's delivered via a crackly carbonation that thins out to a dry finish, which is a good thing. At times it's a total cake bomb, yet there's the cognac. The cognac barrel does not add the boozy sharpness I thought it would, but a welcome complexity and maturity to this all out pastry stout that is just a complete surprise. It's further, yet only slightly, amped up by the cinnamon, but not impeded--just giving only a faint accent to the palate barrage going on here, and I'm fine with that.

This is a rocket ship of a beer that blasts off to all the decadent pastry flavors, which might seem overwhelmingly extreme, but in reality remains enjoyable throughout. At least, the 8-10 oz pour was just perfect for me.
