Good luck parking.,
AC is a Stout Destination. Their base brew is supurb and their barrel program is the thing of legends.
You’re not gonna eat a fancy meal there.
They’re not gonna blow you away with atmosphere, but Heavy Metal is played, joyously.
The service is spotty.
Seating is limited.
That said, if you want a snifter or 3 of some of the best Imperial Stout in the USA, stand there and getcha pull.
Grab a bottle, if available, from the cooler.,.

First off, make sure you're at the right place. As of 2022, this place had recently moved and both addresses are littered across the interwebs. I'm sure whatever GPS mapping you have will get you there in 2023, but are YOU sure?

Oh, Angry Chair. I was on the way to a dinner party, so I figured I'd stop in for a couple beers prior and the new location of Angry Chair was right around the corner. I'd only ever tried a few ounces of their fabled stouts, so I was excited to see what was going on in there.

Vibe: Angry Chair has a very distinct 'sports bar meets heavy metal' taproom vibe, think 3F-lite. The place is pretty cavernous and spacious, with the bar being the only packed area on my visit. The big issue with the vibe in this place was a clear delineation between the regulars/staff, and people who were there from out-of-town, or non-regulars in general. You could tell regulars because they all had pints of the lightest beer (kolsch? pils? something along those lines) vs. tourists who were primarily ordering pasters of tastry stouts and kettle sours. That's fine, except the staff made a clear effort to keep the regulars' glasses full while oft ignoring unfamiliar faces. Also, I get it. I used to serve beer at a brewery known for their heavy BA stouts, and this type of separation also existed in our house. Difference is, we were professional enough as servers to treat everyone the same (even if we despised the neckbeards sucking down alcoholic chocolate syrup). Other than this, the place was adequate for liquid consumption by humans. Tiny parking lot.

Quality: The stouts were very sweet, but well-intentioned and naturally reflective of their particular adjuncts. The pilsy thing wasn't that good, actually.. which may be a FLA water thing. I tried a barleywine as well, which was very middle-of-the-road. If you're coming here, you're most likely doing so for dessert stouts and you'll be happy.

Service: Very bare bones with no special touches. Definitely was passed over for people the behind-bar employee knew even though I'd been there, dry, for 10 minutes. I would not recommend coming here for a great service experience. Again, more like a bar than a brewery experience due to the disinterest from the FOH staff.

Selection: If you're coming for dessert, they've got you covered. Honestly, there were way more styles than I had expected and way less high abv dark beer.

Overall: Came here to try some award-winning stouts and try them I did. They were well done, and the lager I had was very standard or slightly below. The staff wasn't very welcoming and the place itself is spacious yet uninteresting. Minimal effort put out by a brewery who knows their fans will seek them out no matter what. Good luck with that in a couple years when you'll rely on the quality of the brewpub itself to entice clientele.

From notes; visited end of 2019
Stopped by during Tampa business trip.
Recommended by Maryland MOB.
Had a great night with bar tenders and fellow bar drinkers. Scott behind the bar was a great fun guy.
Decent selection of beers across more than a few styles. Big porters and stouts stood out. Other styles were good but not that memorable.
Able to grab some Crowlers to suitcase up for trip home.
Very glad I stopped by.

Such a small place that when really busy, I can't see it being comfortable to visit.
Ample selection of beers to choose from, pretty well known for their porters/stouts.
Even though it wasn't that busy, I had to wait 20 minutes just to pay for the 2 4-packs I got out of the cooler.
Parking is a problem, if you do visit make sure you park where you should. We ate at the diner across the street and I just walked over afterwards.

Taproom just reopened to 50% occupancy 9/14/20. Great vibe, music and people. Lot’s of styles made on site; best known for world class pastry stouts. Parking lot holds maybe 6 cars, but now has tables outside for social distancing drinking. Don’t park on Fern Street...park a block away and walk. Some cans in cooler and crowlers to go still. Highly recommend!

Angry Chair is all about the beer, not about the vibe, the location, the setting. It's a cozy little place, almost like someone added a line of world class beer taps to a dive bar.

Service was curt but adequate, reminiscent of New England. As others have noted, parking is extremely limited.

In busier times, I could see this place very quickly becoming loud and crowded - not the kind of vibe I'm ever really looking for, but perhaps that's right up your alley.

First thing you hear is some heavy metal music blaring out of the speakers; today was TOOL on shuffle along with a roar of heavy drinking bros. The service was prompt and the beer was amazingly made. The stouts are to die for and the menu has a slight variety of IPA's, saison, gose and a pilsner. Cool art and swag for sale on the walls and small batch barrel aged beers for sale to go. Most of the stouts aren't available for growler fills so have as many as you can handle, they often have some rare stuff on tap. The atmosphere was a bit rowdy and too annoying to stay long enough for more than 1 pint. The amount of drunk bros talking loudly over each other and slamming beers together was more like a frat party than a craft beer bar. It was very crowded and cramped but worth visiting while your in Tampa.

Very VERY picky when it comes to IPA’s. From RI. Haven’t found any great IPA’s until now. Wish I could take Space Grass home for bragging rights . LOVE

Located in the "up and coming " Seminole Heights. I think once you get past the parking it is a really interesting place. They were pretty busy at 1230 p on Friday afternoon. Tried the Red Puff Berliner Weisse and one of their Chocolate imperial stouts but I forget which. Guy i was talking to at the bar said this day was crowler release of the Peanut Banana Bread stout. Sold. Service solid. Nice hangout place

Finally made it to this highly spoken of Tampa micro brewery...smaller room, nice sturdy bar and semi friendly and non informative guy on the taps.(ok I’ll say it, guy kinda seemed like a dick). none of the pastry stouts they are known for available on the day I visited...but I did enjoy a few pours of some mighty tasty fruity/juicyish IPAs..... .pretty mellow spot, a few TVs on with sports on....crowlers available to go as well as some barley wine in large format bottles...well worth a visit....high quality brews available here....just don’t expect warm and fuzzy treatment, all the time

Dropped by this brewery during my vacation to Tampa. I was unsure about geography, but the brewery was maybe 15-20 minutes from the Tampa airport. Located off a busy street, the main entrance is in the back. When you enter, there are numerous high standing chairs and tables with unique metal designs. There is a long bar area with the same metal designed high chairs. Various pieces of art lined the walls. There are two TVs in the brewery, both were on ESPN. With a good stream of music, the bar definitely had a great neighborhood and hip feel to it.

The beers were great. I had heard this was mostly a stout place but they had a fair amount of good IPAs (though the stouts were out of this world). They had maybe 12-15 of their beers on tap. It was a pretty busy night with what seemed to be a lot of locals and regulars but the bartender was very attentive to my needs that night, especially with good explanations of the beer. An overall enjoyable night at this brewery.

If you are in Tampa, this is definitely a brewery to try out.

Finally got to stop into Angry Chair. Small spot, heavy metal, demonic vibes. Loved it. Beer quality was incredible, combats trillium for top consistency with stouts. Had a great time, got some good merch, and would love to come back when I visit again.
