On tap a the Bier Stein, during a recent Sunriver event.

The beer pours an orange amber color, with good head retention and lacing. The nose is OK, as I get noticeable malt, light pine, dry citrus and sort of a sandlewood aroma. On the palate... sigh. On the bright side, you don't get the hot, sweet, boozy mess you get from some "TIPA's", but by the same token, there really isn't anything to recommend this beer either. This is much more like a lack luster DIPA, one where you get some up front malty sweetness, that quickly dove tails into a dry, hoppy, somewhat dirty/dusty finish. At least you don't get a lot of noticeable alcohol in this beer, but by the same token, when did you last see a TIPA that is under 10% abv? Not that a high abv. is an absolute necessity, but I feel like it comes with the territory with a TIPA.

Shrug. I've had worse efforts when it comes to TIPA's, but this is still pretty unimpressive, and is not a beer I could see myself ordering again.
