Claim an Exemption, our abbey-style tripel. This crisp golden strong ale unites lemon, orange peel, and coriander spices with flavorful Belgian esters. White wheat, oat, and Belgian artisan malts contribute a moderate body, balanced by a generous amount of Belgian candi sugar.

Gold to copper colored with a fingernail of off white around the rim and covering two thirds of the top. The aroma is of sweet Belgian candy sugar, slightly fruity yeast, lots of orange peel, and a bit of coriander. I’m tasting lots of coriander, orange peel, some fruity triple yeast, and Belgian candy sugar. The mouth is very busy and a bit warm with the melange of ingredients.

12oz can from Tavour. Amber pour, light cloudiness, thin, fine head. Aroma is light yeasty notes, grassy, caramel, cheese. Taste brings notes of butter, toasty malts and just a touch of the Belgian yeast. Smooth, almost sweet with a mild bitterness at the finish.

Medium light orange/amber look. Subtle, spice tinged, medium toasted malt, with a bit of mixed yellow fruit syrup aroma. Clove and allspice, are helping with the taste, supporting, off-dry, medium toast malts and a slightly fermented fruit character, for the taste.

Visited their brewery 4-5 years ago, and finally getting back to the region to discover their canned selections. Appreciate that the taxman slogan is "belgian inspired, american crafted". This is a hybrid approach, but easily enjoyed. Nose has a coriander and citrus quality akin to witbier, yet with stronger yeasty ester present. Full in body, with abv warmth from the candi sugar and malt build. Value priced at the grocery for $7 on the 4 pack would lead me here again

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, canned on 6/11/2020. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense an fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas and flavors of big lemon, orange peel, peach, pear, red apple, coriander, peppercorn, light banana/bubblegum/clove, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, light biscuit/toast, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy bitterness; yeast spiciness, and light wheat/yeast tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange peel, peach, pear, red apple, coriander, peppercorn, light banana/bubblegum/clove, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, lemon, coriander, orange peel, noble hops, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and body with a very smooth, and moderately creamy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mild increasing warmth of 8.5%. Overall this is an awesome tripel. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, lemon, coriander, orange peel, noble hops, and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink for the ABV. Awesome balance between Trappist yeast, spices, and earthy hops; with a great pale/wheat malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering bitter/spicy dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and impressively spot on style example.

Poured into an imperial pint from the can.

A: The beer is a hazy orange color with a 2 finger thick off while foamy head with a good retention.

S: Spicy aroma with plenty of orange peel and cinnamon. Yeast, pineapple, green apple, biscuity bread aroma. Great classic aroma.

T: Sweet and spicy. Yeast character evident throughout. Citrus is dominant. Finish has plenty of that yeast character and peach and citrus.

Overall: This is a good example of a tripel from an American brewer. It hits all the right notes. Holds up with the "real" Belgians.

Pours a mostly-clear honey-gold with a fat finger of dense, off-white head that leaves thick, clingy lacing.

Clean, grainy aroma with a little soap. Almost none of the fruity sweetness I often expect from the style.

The cleanness carries over to the taste. There’s only a hint of fruity sweetness mid-palate — pear, maybe a hint of banana — with some light alcohol burn, some borderline-ashy graininess and slight bitterness in the finish.

Lightly syrupy feel, somewhat chewy, with modest carbonation. The mouthfeel is spot-on.

This isn’t bad, but it’s a bit too clean for a tripel, to my taste. Doesn’t hold up against readily-available Belgian examples, but still fun to try.

Lemon and orange notes of color. A ton of sediment floating throughout entirety.

The nose brings a huge Belgian influence. Banana, pear and a lingering sweetness.

The taste brings a little more spiciness to mix with those banana and pear notes. Slightly sweet, caramel.

Smooth, lighter carbonation. Especially as far as other tripels that I remember. Alcohol not too present.

Overall, a well made American tripel.

Pours a yellow/orange color with a decent sized white had. Not a bad looking beer, but a bit too yellow for the style.

Smells fruity, Little bit pear like, there is also a bit of grassy notes, reminds me a little of a saison.

Pear and apricot up front. bit of pepper spice as well.

Feel is about right for the style, seems highly carbonated.

Basically one of the better non Belgian made triples I have had. It is close to the style, much closer than many attempts of it I have had. This seems to be a very difficult style to make, and while not quite fully on mark, a very solid take on the style.

Pours an effervescent honey color with one finger of eggshell colored head. Some lacing & head retention

S: Peaches, pears, grassyness & perfumy hops

T: Some sweet cakeyness, pineapple, dryness along with cloves up front. Pineapple, a touch pear, plenty of dryness & a little clove, juicy-fruit gum & white grape as this warms, along with a little lavander & green apple peel. Finishes dry with green apple skins, a little white grape & sweet pears

MF: Fairly chewy, fairly firm carbonation

Good take on the style, but takes a little work, pretty complex/hefty. this one took me on a flavor ride & hot almost all the stops on this style
