A clean, refreshing French Ale with a light malt and fruity arome, crisp malt saveur that makes its way to a slightly earthy, hop bitterness and bready malt fin. Brewed with French malt, hops, and yeast.

Slightly better than your average amber ale, this one is a little more complex and full-bodied. It's only 5.6% and not as heavy as even a dubbel, and not as hoppy as a red. But it's definitely not your run of the mill amber either, thanks to the malt they used and the hint of citrus. I liked this one quite a bit.

Had on tap at the brewery.
On the pour a nice white foamy 1 finger head formed then over a few minutes fades to a ring around the rim and light islands of head. The body is a hazy verging on murky amber brown. Carbonation is light and fine.
Aroma is yeasty and sweet with a caramel malt sweetness distorted with an almost wine like funk , followed by a nice light and bright citrus hop note. Almost belgian yeast character but it has some unique aromas.
Flavor follows the aroma quite nicely with the caramel malt sweetness right up front followed by a nice and subtle yeasty stone fruit and belgian funk note. This is quickly followed by some citrus and a nice reserved hit of bitterness. Once the excitement fades you're left with a nice roasty sweet malt character.
Feel is both carbonated and soft at the same time with a mouthcoating maltiness followed by the hops bringing a little astringency. This has a long finish but it's pleasant and a nice evening sipper.
Overall I'm not sure how on style this is as it is my first biere de garde, but compared to amber beers and Belgians, thus one stacks up and in a way is a nice cross of the two styles.

A pretty red/amber color with a small, quickly disappearing, head.
Aroma of sweet malt and fruit.
I taste apple and pear, some caramel, and a late kiss of hops.
Very easy to drink.

Bought two cans from Beer Drop. Good enough as an American rendition of biere de garde. Suitable at the table.
Anton opens with clarity, really a pretty amber and a decent head that recedes to below average foam (needs the yeast to stir the protein.) Smells are mostly malt wanting to become mild fruit, like apples. Potentially sweetish Tastes are balanced by enough hops to give me a salivating sweet-tang sensation and subsequent refreshment. Nice bubbles to cleanse the palate, but a light Feel.
For my brewer review... Diebolt gets very good OA Hugs. First of all, as a train geek... I very much like Denver and every gastro-pub and micro that helps renew Denver's downtown and neighborhoods is good in my book. Second, this is a 7 year family establishment and a thoughtful one. And they are making it in a very competitive market. Third, this biere de garde reminds me of Domaine DuPage... an American table ale with longevity because it lets good foods stand out. I look forward to more from Diebolt. Beer Drop, send me some saisons.
11/16/20 Had the second can. Edited the review and am ready to keep count over at UnTappd.

L:. Pours a brilliant Amber red with a small white head and a few fingers of lacing.
S:. Lighter caramel and toffee, toasted bread, a lighter aroma but inviting.
T:. Toasted bread, caramel and toffee, sweetness and a light hop. Light but fairly drinkable
F:. Light body, higher carb.
O:. A more restrained Amber but definitely drinkable

Tastes like a bright brown ale. I recommend the beer and the brewery.

Pours a clear amber with lots of carbonation and a very bubbly white head. A bit of a sweet malt nose but it's light to me. Crisp malty and smooth all at the same time with a bit of bitterness at the very end. Interesting beer
