This beer's got some bad reviews but I really enjoyed it. Huge amounts of tropical fruits in the aroma and taste and a substantial malt background. Also a fair bit of malty sweetness in the taste and a rindy bitterness. Sure, this isn't your typical NE style IPA. It's more of a tropical malt forward IPA. But for those willing to keep an open mind, this is an awesome beer.

As others have indicated, this beer is not on the same level as their other recent hoppy releases, but I think it's still an enjoyable beer. I've drank a fair number of these since the day it was canned, and can appreciate what Odd 13 tried to do - make a maltier IPA that was different and out of their comfort zone. When looking at it as a beer not bound by style constraints and not held to the same high standard as Superfan, Robot Librarian, etc I think it stands out as a good, not great, beer. The appearance is murkey and the hop notes are overshadowed a bit by the interesting malt character, but it's an intriguing experience if you aren't expecting a hop bomb.

Geez. "underwhelming", "messy". I guess we're all used to exceptional beers from Odd13. It's not their best, but it's not that bad.

L: Muddy hazy brown color that poured with a small head and a little bit of lacing. This isn't a very attractive beer.
S: Tropical fruit and crystal malt sweetness, a hint of diacetyl. The smell is muddled and nothing stands out.
T: Tropical fruit with a lemon peel bitterness, a lot of malt sweetness. As in the smell, everything gets really muddled in this beer.
F: The mouthfeel on this feels somewhere between a regular IPA and a New England IPA closer to the New England IPA.
O: This is a disappointing IPA from Odd 13, they have much better beers.

Tapped it in a keg yesterday at my bar. Wonderful aroma of piney, citrusy hops. Amber in color. Looks maltier than it tastes. Great juicy hop flavor, paired with those vienna malts, makes this beer very delicious. A definite winner from Odd 13. All customers including myself say , one of the best IPA's they've had in a while.

its not as bad as the others say, but this is real underwhelming from these guys, especially after the other recent hoppy releases have all been so incredible. this is an odd one, with a big amber type malt base, lots of body and residua sugar, like it didnt get long enough in the fermenter. it also seems not finished. the hops are cool, juicy and bitter and big, but its positively the wrong grain profile to showcase them, and they end up muddle and lost in the wort stew here. i still liked the flavor of it though, i mean, the grain is fresh and big, even if out of proportion, and the hops are interesting if a little covered up. its not a bad beer, just a whack recipe i think. we have come to know these guys for really juicy east coast style india pale ale, and this is something else altogether. we cant hate on it for being different, i am glad they arent resting on their previous accomplishments and continuing to experiment and push it all forward. they cant all be superfan, and this one certainly isnt, but its not as bad as folks are saying it is. i bet they revamp this one a bit and rerelease it and we all go nuts for it...

12 oz can. Pours very hazy amber gold with a medium creamy off white head that goes to a thin film that laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet sugary crystal malt and butterscotch with a little ripe fruit.
The flavor is sweet sugary toasted malt with lots of butterscotch diacetyl and some ripe fruit with a decent bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery.
Overall, lots of off notes. Surprising considering their other beers I've had.

This is a mess. A rotten fruity mess. It's more than just having Vienna malt in an IPA, nothing works together. Sadly this is the worst thing I've had from odd13. Cool label though.
