Packed with tropical juice flavor with a slight citrus bitterness towards the end, goes down extremely smooth.

12 oz can. Pours hazy/murky dark gold with a big frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is sweet fruit and piney grassy floral hops.

The flavor is sweet melon with lots of resiny piney hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a nice IPA, but not one of Odd13's better ones.

This is another of my Tavour boxes to further The CANQuest (tm)! I find that I am not buying many bottles from them, but I am trying to snap up the CANs as they become available. I really like the opportunity to get so many CANs from the Rockies and the West Coast.

From the CAN: "I-P-Alien is an India Pale Ale featuring a variety of space-themed hops. Apollo, Comet, and Galaxy all play a role. Very low bitterness and massive dry hopping combine to create an incredibly juicy IPA."

I Crack!ed the vent & began a slow, gentle Glug, but to no avail. Everything that was emanating from the CAN had a haziness to it to the point that I gave up & deCANted it all into the awaiting glass. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). An in-glass swirl raised just under three fingers of foamy, rocky, bone-white head with moderate retention that left nice lacing in its wake. Nose was filled with tropical fruit - mango, papaya, guava and even pineapple. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but definitely big for the style. The taste was also very tropical fruity, but the bitterness was almost non-existent. This CANtinues to disappoint me about these hazebro NE IPAs - fruity with little to no bitterness is NOT my idea of an AIPA! I keep saying that these NEIPAs need to be broken out into their own separate style because until then, if I am rating to style & not to taste, then they are going to be found to be lacking. Finish was semi-sweet and I got a light lemony grassiness that lingered, but not enough to Wow! me the way that it has for others. Sorry.

Appearance: Pours cloudy, with a honey color; the head is an inch of whipped egg white foam; plenty of traces of lace

Smell: Sweetened mango/pineapple juice with a grassy edge

Taste: There is a honeyed sweetness that spreads across the tip of the tongue and stays there as the tropical fruit flavors develop, bringing mango and pineapple; through the middle, a slightly grassy bitterness develops but the finish is as sweet as the start

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Not the best example of a NE IPA I have encountered but still quite enjoyable

Thanks, pagesofphotographs, for the opportunity

12oz can, just released so it must be fresh. Looks like a typical New England IPA, turbid, bright orange, good head and lacing. Smells like orange juice, not bad. Flavor is watered down orange juice, some yeast. Not their best offering but I guess replicating New England style IPA's is what they are known for.

The can have a gnarly alien on the label. Served the beer in a pint glass around 47 degrees. A medium pour produced a two finger head with great retention. The head is a rocky, foamy, and frothy leaving lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 6 a pale gold color with yellow hues. The clarity of the beer is hazy.

The aromas of the beer are tropical, pine, resin, grapefruit, and biscuit.

The flavors of the beer is tropical, pine, resin, grapefruit, and resin.

The mouthfeel of the beer is crisp and clean.

The body of the beer is medium, medium carbonation, and a medium finish.

The beer is standard IPA nothing to fancy.

Can dated 02/12/18 into a tulip glass.

L: Pours hazy golden bronze with 1 finger of medium density white head with moderate retention and left mixed ringed lacing.

S: Nose is very tropical, lots of mango, pineapple, and plenty of grassiness. Perhaps some subtle floral undertones. It's interesting but different.

T: Follows the nose fairly well, finishes with some bitterness and medium astringency, astringency lingers.

F: Medium-high bodied, medium-high carbonation, full and light on the tongue but with some burn from carbonation and astringency.

O: It's a beer that I enjoyed, but not something I'd be raving about to friends nor seeking out specifically.

12oz can served in a tulip. Canned on 2/12/18.

Pours hazy yellow golden with a big head and lots of carbonation. Smell is hop resin.

Taste is hop resin, soft fruity notes, something makes me think of papaya. Definite creaminess.

Mouthfeel is creamy / fluffy. Overall, nice beer.

A 12oz. pour from a sixtel kegged and purchased at the brewery on 02/08/19. As fresh as it gets!

Look- Pours a radiant golden/yellow churning up two fingers of creamy white foam. It ever so slowly settles and thick lacing is present as I sip this juicy nectar.

Smell- Mango, passion/stone fruits, orange zest and a hint of yeast.

Taste- Passion/stone fruits, mango, grapefruit, pineapple and some herbaceous floral in the finish.

Feel- Creamy smooth up front yielding to a slight acidity in the finish.

Overall- A top notch hazebro brewed by the people at Odd 13. I could only dream about purchasing a keg of something this special back in the midwest. A super fair price of $95 a sixtel. This is worth your while.

Initial impression from a can:

Remarkably soft, but the hop profile - while juicy - is disinteresting and lacks pungency.

it used to be that every beer these guys made was amazing, they were so hot for so long, but lately some of these one off hoppy beers have been less than fully incredible, and this one is surely short of that mark. superfan rules, but all these other cloudy hop forward beers seems forces to me, a little sloppy, and in this case, too bitter for how juicy it seems to also try to be, not a style that can be both very often, and the balance between the two hop elements here is off. cloudy but not too dense or thick, and still brightly colored, orangish, pretty, heady, and nicely aromatic, with a sharp citrus peel component and a grassy earthy nature as well. the can artworks is also awesome. the flavor here though starts with a nice dry hopped freshness, orange and grapefruit, but moves rather rapidly to a denser cereal complexion in the center, and finally a really bitter high alpha finish thats really a bit too intense. this aspect seems to run wild as the beer warms up too, and while not really a flaw, is sort of a turnoff just the same. not a bad beer, and i am sure it will have its loyalists if they keep making it, but i didnt think this was anywhere near as good as some of the other ipa types these guys make...
