Heard about this place from well this BA space. The place is off the beaten path but close enough to charming downtown Houlton and the 95 that if you are anywhere in the vicinity you MUST stop by. Room after room of stocked shelves with an amazing beers.

There are rooms after rooms but be warned the place has a volume issue. I found two year old ipas all over the place. So if you can be mindful check the dates. That said, the limited releases from Maine's up and comers, coupled with a deep bullpen of age friendly beers from around the state's is unsurpassed in this state. It took the dank charm of Ron's in Farmington and got rid of all the food and added some serious clutch finds. I scooped up the Gneiss 2 yr anny beer, a fresh dated clown shoes Vic secret space cake, a nicely aged really old brown dog, a 4 year old backburner barley wine from southern tier, the last gannset/dels lemon shandy (guilty pleasure), along with fresh marsh island dipa. There are the ubiquitous goodies from founders, allagash, and me beer co that keep it real but I passed up. So in some ways the deep bench is good for the beers that age but tread lightly with the ipas. In short, a must hit but take your time. Its worth it you're in Houlton after all.

Great little spot in the middle of nowhere. As they say "don't judge a book by it's cover" because the cover gives you a sense of doom. However... once you walk in, the selection is amazing.
Only issue I had was that Kent won't break 6 and 4 packs down, but he explained it there was too much inventory to keep track of if he allowed breaking of packs. There's plenty of singles to choose from.

For being in a tiny town (Houlton, ME) it has a GREAT selection of BEER. Even the big supermarkets in town cant hold a candle to this store! Even in Bangor or Portland (way down south) it's hard to find quality beers other than the mass produced. It even has beer hops for home brewing! The only place to go if you are looking for IPA's!

There are simply no words to describe the sheer awesomeness of the Dawg.

Yes, they have the largest selection "in the middle of nowhere", but quite possibly the state as well. They tend to price-match the competition.

Looking for BMC? Yes, they have some. Looking for some crazy, out of the way micro or craft? They probably have it. If they don't, talk to Kent. He'll get it, or try to.

As an added bonus, you can take your empties back and reinvest in more beer. Win-win-win.

Went to the thirsty dawg on the recommendation of a friend. Can't believe the selection they've got in the middle of nowhere. Lots of goose island, founders, mikkeller, clown shoes, southern tier and so much more.. Got 09 WWS out of the cooler for 6$ a piece and a lot of rare and awesome beers. This place is a well known gem in te area. Lots of us Canadians cross over and it is well worth the duty. Service is top notch as well, with knowledgeable staff
