Small quiet little joint on the backstreets of downtown Delaware. Once inside you feel like you're in a pub in the middle of Europe. Fun place to chill and enjoy some brews with friends. Note for the owners - I think a well placed sign outside would certainly bring in more customers.

LOVE this place - just excellent. Very English pub-ish, so it's a tight squeeze. But everyone is cool, and everyone there gets it. Every beer I've had there is exceptional - their Golden Strong being one of my favorites. And their Belgian Quad is just WOW. The owners (young couple) are always smiling, and the chalk board always has something witty. Staas brewery is, without a doubt, my favorite place to grab a beverage. I do wish they were open more than 3 nights a week, BUT I also get the tremendous appeal that generates!

Just okay. The scene was a mix of old and young with a few children tossed in. (Which I found odd considering there is no reason for kids to be there they do not serve food) We found that even sitting at a high top table you still had to go up to the bar to get a drink. Odd!!! No waitress or waiters, just two bartenders (I think the owners) who did not come out from behind the bar. Beer seemed very sweet.

First perfect score I've given anything on beer advocate. Owners are top notch. Their beer selection is constantly changing with a lot of BIG beers on tap. If you don't love your experience here your probably a D bag and just one of those people who just like to watch the world burn! Their esb and quad are my favorites hopefully you can find yours.

Cool place. A little noisy but that's to be expected. Staas has 12 taps and all are house brews. Nothing really fantastic but everything is solid. I had a good time and really enjoyed myself. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly as well. I'll go back.
Edit: So I stopped back by . . . Closed, on a Friday night ? WT ? Didn't make much sense to me

I'm very happy to have this brewery in town. It was a great experience for my friend and I. Now I have to figure out which beer my Wife would accept in the idea she is not a beer drinker. Overall Staas House has the right idea. I will be in attendance going forward with a pal or my Wife. My Staas House exp. was above average. Good beers great atmosphere aside from the Danatos girl coming in to us the Jon...I would take it as a compliment or a sign of a clean restroom. Happy Hops, wheat and barley.

I had heard about Staas a couple months ago and have been searching for an excuse to check it out. I finally got one in the form of an in person trade with falcon1. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 5p. It is a small unassuming building. The only reason I suspected that it might be my destination was a couple tables and chairs in a tiny fenced in area in front. There was no signage that I saw.
I entered and was greeted with a quaint barroom with a small dart/game room to the left. The inside was new looking and plain. There were about eight patrons in the place. Thirty people would pack this place. I bellied up to the bar to wait on falcon 1 and a friend from Columbus that I invited to meet me. Staas has twelve beers on tap at all time, as I understand, with the taps constantly rotating. I ordered a flight of six beers. The sample size is three ounces.
While waiting on me the bartender asked if it was my first visit and explained that traditional English styles and Belgians were their specialty. I eventually sampled all twelve and the oak tripel, the quad, the Belgian pale ale, and the winter ale, an old ale, were my favorites. She was very friendly and informative. I think she was the wife of the brewer. The brewer was there and seemed friendly as well.
I had a good time there. I got to complete a trade with and meet a great BA in a cozy, beer-centric environment. As falcon1 left my friend and I became hungry. They do not have food, but you can bring in food or have it delivered. Another option would be to walk a couple blocks down Winter Street to the 1808 American Bistro. They have great food and beer but are pricey. My friend opted to order in food, while I headed up US 23 to the home of the World Famous Bologna Sandwich in Waldo. Another convenient stop is two blocks away. Barley Hopsters is a home brew/bottle shop/bar.
Delaware was a town I used to drive through to get to Columbus. Now I consider it a destination. Staas was a great experience, and I hope to return soon.

As a long time craft beer geek, when I was told there was a small batch craft brewery opening not 20 minutes from my house to say I was excited would be putting it mildly. Our first visit was in August of 2013, and we have been regulars since. Staas is our Cheers. The owners are 2 of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Both brew the liquid gold throughout the week, then tend bar on the weekends. They're both extremely knowledgeable about brewing, and are more than happy to help you make a selection from any of their 12 rotating taps of the freshest beer you could imagine. Their roots are in Belgian beers, and their passion for the style really shines. I highly recommend trying at least 1 of their Belgians - even if you think you're not a fan of the style, you should give them a shot. If you're a hophead like me, you can't beat their IPA and DIPA. Both are uber fresh and dry-hopped. And don't forget about the seasonal favorites. Get them while you can, because they never seem to last long enough!
If you have not made it to Staas yet, I assure you, you will not be disappointed. Belly-up to the bar, get a flight of all 12 beers, or a mixed flight of your favorite styles, and relax in the cozy, warm brewpub. You're sure to make some new friends, hear some hilarious stories, and feel good about supporting a truly local establishment. Seriously, the best brewpub in the State. Delaware is lucky to have this gem. I hope to see you there.
Cheers!

Walking into this brew pub you will notice a nice decor, a good amount of bar and table seating and a separate room that you can sit at the window or play darts. Outside table seating is available as well. Usually about a dozen or so beers on tap, with a variety of offerings (oatmeal stout, ESB, spruce ale, apricot wheat, brown ale, farmhouse ale, belgian quad, IPA to name a few). There are two large TVs behind the bar, music playing, sometimes live entertainment. They do not serve any food except a designated driver drink menu made up of coffee and different teas. A noodle food cart has been there a couple times when they are open. Currently they only open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4 to midnight. Beers are around $5-7, they taste extremely fresh, the beers I have had so far have been great. A welcome addition to Delaware, if you are in the area you should check it out.
