Notes: All My Joy is a thick creamy stout with coconut, chocolate, and almonds. This black beer taste like a candy beer with a dark chocolate finish. Coconut and chocolate on the nose that slides into the taste with a hint of nuttyness.

Poured from a 16oz can dated 11/11/19 into a tulip glass. Beer is inky black and has an extremely fizzy head that immediately disappeared with zero lacing. The body is thick and flat. Overall a great dessert beer. Basically a liquid candy bar.

Initial impression from a 16 fl oz can nabbed as part of a 4 pack for $10.49 USD plus tax in New Orleans, LA. Canned 11/11/19.

"Stout with Coconut, Cocoa Nibs & Almonds." 7.2% ABV.

Head is very dark but also very thin and fizzy. The gilded brown colour would be great if the head didn't fizzle out and die so damned quickly (this lasts maybe 10 seconds at most). Leaves no lacing as it recedes.

BODY: Opaque black, as is predictable given the style.

Appears to be off carbonation-wise. The lack of head retention is disconcerting, and I'm inclined to blame the additives...maybe the almonds somehow reduced head retention? Not sure why I'm leaning that way.

Looks very subpar for a stout mostly due to the poor head retention...seems weak and thin.

AROMA: Strongly evokes the candy it's obviously targeting the flavour profile of. Obvious coconut, chocolate, and almond (joy) aromatics leap out of the glass. Though apart from the additives, it's hard to find much in's not that it's artificial, it's that the additives purge any semblance of the base beer. And the artificiality of the aroma is an issue too; the coconut seems genuine but the rest has a fake flavour extract sort of vibe to it.

Suggests a stout with a narrow flavour profile that delivers on the premise of the beer at the expense of leaning hard into alcopop just doesn't seem like a stout inasmuch as it does an alcoholic yoohoo-like carbonated beverage.

Aromatic intensity is high.

TASTE & TEXTURE: Poor. It's thin and weak, as predicted, but also saccharine, coming off cloying and tooth-eroding without delivering much in terms of flavour. Weak coconut, imitation almond flavoring, poor milk chocolate-like flavour's all very surface level and shallow with an emphasis on additives. Lacks even a robust malt backbone, failing to shore up its dollar store chocolate flavour with chocolate malt. Doesn't taste like cocoa nibs/cacao/actual chocolate.

I find no roasted barley bitterness (and frankly no barley or actual malt flavour at all). Tastes like an alcopop malt beverage for teens. The imbalance is atrocious and the flavour is poor...and I say that as someone who actually likes Almond Joy.

Undercarbonated. Syrupy on the palate yet also light. Unrefreshing (obviously). I guess it disguises its alcohol okay. Sugary and sludgy...a bit of a chore to drink. Wouldn't earn a dentist's stamp of approval.

OVERALL: Easily the worst beer I've tried from Southern Prohibition (and, probably, the state of Mississippi - which is saying something). I get what they were going for, but they didn't quite nail the almond joy flavour profile even if they did nail the aroma, and it isn't much of a beer inasmuch as it is a cloyingly sweet malt beverage. Difficult to drink given its high sweetness and poor quality, and a poor beer across the board with no redeeming characteristics. There are no off-flavours, but it's rather off-putting fare. I'm considering trying to return the remaining 3 beers...really appallingly bad given the brewery behind it. Not so much a "what were they thinking?" as a "why did they actually release it?" Tremendously disappointing and actually a bit repugnant.

A small-batch, limited draft-only release in October 2018, had this stout with coconut, chocolate and almonds at the SoPro Taproom on draft into tulip.

This is an Almond Joy (TM) in a glass, with nice roast malts and hop bite to clean up the finish.
